How can you tell when someone has a Canada email address?
I have an auction that the highest bidder is canada.com and there's NO WAY I'm shipping this item to Canada!
Thanks

Just go to the feedback page and it will say the country.
Also, before cancelling the bid, it might be worth an email to check with them. I have had a lot of canadians have stuff shipped to US addresses. Usually just across the border from them.

feedback page? what exactly are you referring to? If I'm signed in I can see their email address, which when it says cananda.com makes me think it's from Canada. Another one was .ca which I thought was the other canada one.
thankfully I DID email the bidder and asked if they lived in Canada or did they have a US shipping address. And they do have a US shipping address. I noticed earlier in the sellathon thing that I had a Canada bidder, and I just ignored it figuring he would get outbid and I didn't want to cancel his bid.
I finally edited one of my pics and put red letters across it saying "shipping US only"

The email address doesn't always tell you where they're from. AOL can be just about anywhere. It's easy to confuse a State of California employee using his work computer for a Canadian bidder. Also, just last week, one of my winning bidders has an Asia.com email address. He was in Colorado.

I have a Tijuana.com email address. I may have to attach that one to an ebay account and start having some fun panicking sellers.

If it's really "common" sense, why do so few people actually have it?

If you click on their feedback number, the country they registered with is on the far right just above the contact member button.

Of course, that doesn't always indicate where the item will be shipped.
Notable exceptions include Afghanistan and Iraq, plus APO and FPO addresses.

But it is a lot better than going by email address.

These are a pair of boat chairs. There's no way it's going USPS. I don't mind shipping to Canada or anywhere else as long as it packable in some respect. The two boat chairs are not USPS-able.
Just sold three suitcases. One is going to NY, one went to Norway and they happily coughed up $57.00 for shipping, and the other is going to Japan, and they were quite happy to pay shipping also. The Japan bidder I gave the 3 USPS choices (and they wanted the insurance included)
>Global Express Mail (EMS) 3 - 5 Days $43.35 plus $150. insurance add $1.00 total $44.35
>Airmail Parcel Post 4 - 10 Days $40.10 plus $150. insurance add $3.60 total $43.70
>Economy (Surface) Parcel Post 4 - 6 Weeks $26.25 insurance add $3.60 total $29.85
They chose the Globale Express Mail.
