Jack; I went to Verizon DSL about a yr. ago & it has been pretty good. Like any other eloectronics, it has had some problems but they have been taken care of quite quickly.

I use Cox cable & it is decent. It used to be @home, but now Cox. You may try your local cable company & see if they offer service.

We don’t have access to cable or DSL (we live in a very, very rural area), so we went to Satellite by DirecWay. After they worked out their problems with their latest system, it has been fantastic! We also keep land lines via Earthlink, which I’ve never had a problem with. We keep the land lines for emergency and the occasional time the satellite might not be able to work because of extreme weather. I have been more than pleased with Earthlink.net

This is one of the few postings the Jack has done that actually makes sense.

Earthlinks does suck. Almost as much as AOL.

Here is a new TOS that all sellers should put in their auctions.

"If you have either of these completely sucky ISP services (AOL or Earthlink) You must put me on your e-mail contact list BEFORE bidding on this auction. Failure to do that will automatically subject you to a negative feedback and automatically reject your bid on this item."

Ok, just a wish.

LOL Stone!

I'd have to add "hotmail" and "webtv" to that list too. They give me almost as much trouble!

ouch! DirecWay is awfully expensive! You must really have to want that to fork over that kind of money. Your speed isn't what cable modem is either.

To download 25MB of software, it says my time is 1.4 minutes. With DirecWay it would be 6.8 minutes!

I agree cable is the fastest most of the time, but if your area gets overloaded with subscribers, it can slow down dramatically. Neverthe less it isn't available in my area yet.

I had Earthlink for like forever??? I don't know why either. Dialup was OK but I wanted DSL so I got an offer in the mail and called. They said id I order it and when it got here just install at my option.
lst lie - I had 10 days. I wanted to wait until I got passed my Christmas listing for obvious reasons. But I had no choose but to go for it.
Well you guessed it - didn't work and then guess what - neither did dial up. Verdict after a ruined Christmas sales season - I was too far from the telephone equipment building so NO DSL is going to work for me.
They said OH that happens sometimes???
At first they wanted to charge me some cancellation stuff but I pulled the special offer out that said "No Obligation" so I didn't pay anything and raised such a stink about my lost time and sales that I don't think I ever paid them another dime.
Jack if it didn't work for you - you should not have to pay. Don't ask DEMAND to talk to a supervisor.
I now have cable and it's great. I've only had to call one time and they were just a rude as earthlink. lol
I hope to go for the DirectV when they drop their prices.
