Guess I had to run across one sooner or later, but what would you do?

Had an item end on 4/8 and did not receive response to email at that time. Sent reminder email on 4/21 and received email back that son was sick and some things were just more important than Ebay and they would mail the check today.

Going with the remote possibility the person was telling the truth I said OK (although I really hated hearing the word "check" from an irate bidder). I've already been stiffed twice this year.

Today I was cleaning up my paperwork and filled the Ebay NPB notice since I still haven't received the payment.

And, here's the charming email I received back.

"Linda, I got some sort of cockamamie notice from ebay called a payment reminder. I sent you my check on 4-26 to an address in Las Vegas. Have you not gotten it?"

Now, the auction ended 4/8 so why in the world would he be the one acting like an injured party here? I have a bad feeling about this one and would prefer to not complete the transaction.

Could I have overlooked his payment. Yes, if it had been a month. No, since it would have just come in last week and I haven't even been running anything but store listings for 3 weeks while I sort through some inventory. So, I have received a total of 3 checks in 2 weeks.

With his attitude, I'm pretty sure a neg is coming anyway. This is the first person I have had a problem with since 1 in 1998

I did block him from bidding on anything else. That will probably tick him off even more.

I really wish Ebay would do something about blocking negs from bidders who we file NBP and FVF on!

Just checked his feedback, and he has other negs and then posts negs to sellers in return saying they cashed his checks and did not send item. Guess he is going to be a fun one.

The sellers even posted a reply that he is not being truthful but guess he can get away with it anyway

Lindajean...I've had the same thing happen to me several times. What works for me is to blame the Postal Service for not getting it to you. It diverts his hostility away from you and gives him a face saving exit from his oversight. Tell him to send another check, and upon receipt, you won't pursue the NPB process. Tell him if his original check shows up, you'll mail it back to him. I've had very good results with this tactic. My apologies to any Postal Service employees who might be lurking, but when it comes to looking for a scapegoat, you folks are very convenient

Good idea. Thanks for the suggestion.

I just hate to see that 100% go away although I am sure it will be gone sooner or later with all the crazy people out there.

I still say Ebay should not allow the sellers to be held hostage to the bidder though! Our reputation is important to us and when we do everything right we shouldn't have to worry about cases like this one.

Why do you get so up set about a neg that is not your fault? Over the past 7 years I have accumulated at least 15 negs from SOB's just like what you are looking at. If you are an honest seller & have a lot of posives, then move on. It hasn't hurt my sales one bit. If you could read my +'s then you would know why.

Sanmar:
My +++'s are over 1200 with 1049 being unique bidders. And, I love every one of them. They are glowing.

But, I even started this Id because of the 1 neg I got my first month of selling (back in 1998) on the other ID I have. I accumulated 1400 positives over 2 years after that, but still hated that ugly red mark (that was also from a non-paying bidder).

I offer 100% money back guarantee (no one has ever asked for a refund), never post negs and bend over backwards to please. I DON'T WANT ANY NEGS!.

And, if you check out postcard sellers, there are many who have 10,000+ feedbacks and all are positive. So as a rule, the postcard buyers are a very pleasant bunch. If other sellers can keep that 100% positive then I should be able to also!
I don't have any hard lines in my TOS. No pay in xx days etc. I don't even send follow-up emails until 3 weeks have passed.

I just don't want a neg. It's not business, it's personal. But then, so is Ebay. If I wanted to put up with b*tchy people I would go back to work as an accountant and make lots more money

I have nearly 200 negatives. I love every one of 'em. They're a badge of honor.

LOL Fluffy!

I will probably join you under my second ID where I will be selling my records and other "stuff". There, I will have a no-nonsense TOS, no refunds, and let the chips fall. I'm starting that one back up in June and selling everything in bulk to clean house.

As a rule, record buyers just aren't that easy to deal with and I am NOT opening any packages to get those little numbers off the labels or answer any questions. What you see is what you get. 12 records for $9.99 take them or leave them. What I don't sell will go to Goodwill. and, I have thousands of them Along with movie memorabilia, buttons, non-sports cards, paper items and magazines.

Bulk, bulk, bulk and cheap cheap cheap. but the cheaper the price the more difficult the bidder as a rule so I am prepared!
