I bought these at a huge yard sale where a lot of the stuff had been in storage since the sixties. I don't know if these are that old or not.

The main problem with chop sticks are that the ends are too blunt the way they come from the factory. Whenever I go into a Chinese restaurant, I have to take my pocket knife and sharpen the ends so I can spear the shrimp and stab all those other funny looking things on the plate.

I sold a pair similiar to what you have. Looks like inlaid mother of pearl? in the 'handle' part of yours, mine had that, and the end where you 'stab' your food was bone. I still have more, my brother brings them back when they go to China. But who knows, Japanese ones may be worth more, they may be 'vintage' too, and you have a neat box also.

The original owners must have liked forks also - you notice these have never been used.
I do think that's mop in them. I just have no clue as to value or age - I looked at past auctions and prices are all over the place for chopsticks. I guess I'll just start low and see what happens - it's not like I have a lot invested in them.

cherished
I have 4 pair of the same chopsticks I don't remember if they were wrapped or not & I'm sure they were never in a box, never used them either
I bought them about 30 years ago in a Chinese restaurant. They were inexpensive, but very pretty, I'm guessing 2.00 a pair back then. I would post a picture of mine, but everything I have is still in storage until we move.
I have never seen them anywhere until you posted that picture. For sure they are at least 30 years old, probably more.
