Has anyone else received something similar today? Seems real enough, because much private info was included in this e-mail. Hope it's not a spoof, but if ebay did make an error in their billing, it seems incumbent upon them to fix their error, and not make it seem like my account (or anyone's) could be in jeopardy for their failure to charge my credit card. Maybe it's just my interpretation of their e-mail, but it wouldn't be the first time the 400 lb gorilla has messed up at an innocent person's expense. By the way, they've been sucessfully charging my credit card for years, and my cc works just fine, so it's nothing on my end. The "eBay Global Collections Group" part at the bottom sounds a bit iffy to me, but how could they have known all my private info?

I've removed the private stuff below, but here's what I just received from "[email protected]"

Anyone else get this?

Advance Billing Notice

Hello (my real name here):

We are writing in regards to your 30-April Invoice for your seller's account XXXXXXXX (ebay seller name here). As you are probably aware, the delivery and billing for this invoice has been delayed. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

As of this date, our records show that this invoice amount has not been paid in full. If you have made a payment in the last few days, please disregard this notice. We are writing today to give you advance notice of when eBay will be charging this invoice amount of $XXX.XX, to the payment method you have on file for billing.

Our records show you have a bank account or credit/debit card on file for billing. eBay will be charging your payment method between the 24 th and the 29 th of May.

Please ensure that adequate funds are available in your account for the invoice amount of $XXX.XX. We do not recommend that you make a 1-time payment now, because your 1-time payment may not post before eBay's billing attempt will begin. Your 1-time payment may result in a duplicate payment.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. We look forward to collecting payment for your invoice, and are anxious to keep you as an active member of the User Community.

NOTE: Please be aware certain persons in the past have attempted to gather sensitive customer data by fraudulently representing themselves to be eBay, by requesting our Users to enter their account information and billing information into fraudulent websites. You can protect yourself by selecting the links yourself directly from the eBay home page, using the instructions that eBay will provide in its emails to you.

Regards,

eBay Global Collections Group

There must have been a glitch in the system. I didn't get my billing until the 18th of May.

I've got mine and all their information looks correct. However, I have a credit card on file and there should be no problem that I am aware of. They always charge the card.

If they haven't billed yet, why are they telling us? Either bill the card or don't bill the card, why cause this confusion?

I got one too and forwarded it to [email protected] (just to be sure). They say it is legit and they're just letting me know they will bill my card late so just make sure there's room on the card for them.
