Hi All
I am going to try and tell you all what took place yesterday as clearly as possible, but quite frankly, I am still baffled by it and would really appreciate it if anyone could explain it to me. Here goes..
I purchased an exercise tape from a seller a couple of weeks ago. It arrived and I left positive feedback..
Yesterday, I received an email from Paypal, stating that another package was being shipped to me from this seller. I was puzzled, since I hadn't made another purchase from her.. as I read down the Paypal email... I noticed at the bottom, the sellers name and address and in the Buyers name and address, there was another person's name and address..not mine. Now.. the email had my email addy and my name.

I checked my paypal account, and sure enough, there is a pending shipping from this Seller in my file.. I emailed the seller, but she didn't reply right away. I was nervous that someone was using my account, so I used Paypals format to send a question... well.. this is where the mess really starts... they (Paypal) email me saying that my account may be at risk, so they inform me that they are going to freeze it and I will have limited use, until they get the situation taken care of.. Holy Smokes!! I don't want my account frozen, and there has been no charges to my account.. I just wanted to know what was going on..

Still with me? So I called Paypal and told everything to a representative.. he finally tells me that the Seller did something using Paypals shipping feature, used my account, and changed the buyers name and address?????
He sent me a form to fill in to basically, rescind my previous one to Paypal.. by this time my head is spinning.. In the meantime, I have an unpaid charge both on my Paypal and Ebay page.
The seller wrote saying she was sorry.. but I didn't understand what really happened. I just received an email from Paypal stating my charges were false..that the sale was confirmed.. OH MY LORD.. Have I totally confused you all as much as I am? I need someone who can see clearly right now.. to help me understand what actually took place.. thanks.. Maggie

Did this "email" have a clickable link in it to take you to the PayPal site??

If, YES, did ya click it??

Smells pretty "phishy" to me-N-Ralphie!

Hi Tom,
The only clickable link in the email was to the USPS, Delivery Confirmation site.
Paypal said it was a legit notification of shipment.. My account, my name and email address.. another Buyers name and address in the Ship to.. Now, like I said.. it shows on my Paypal account a pending shipping for this item and on my Ebay page a pending payment due.. I can't figure it out. Maggie

Yea, Paypal is dropping the ball. Multiply this times a thousand customers a day. You can provide better service by avoiding Paypal as a seller.

Open up a new Paypal account, and leave this one dormant for right now. It sounds like an idiot seller managed to push the wrong buttons and confuse things. What is the best procedure, everyone?

I dunno, maybe the seller can somehow reverse the transaction.

look at what the seller is selling, does she sell many items??
it may just be an honest mistake, not every one is out to scam .
you can also just change your paypal password.

Thanks everyone for your help.

I don't think this was done intentionally. I checked the seller's items sold.. as it turns out she sold this buyer the exact item that I previously purchased from her. Somehow, she used my shipping invoice to make a new one, then cleared my name and shipping address and put in the new buyers? I have not used the shipping feature with Paypal, so I don't know if this is possible?

Anyway, I can check on the shipping progress and see if and when it gets delivered to this other person.. LOL.. I will ignore the payment due in My Ebay and the shipping notice in my Paypal.
On top of all this mess.. the seller hasn't reciprocated and left me Positive feedback..
Thanks again for all the good advice!

Thanks,

I did this once before and baffled my buyer also.

At the time paypal was the only free way I knew that printed postage and hid the fees.

Someone paid via paypal but I mailed from post office.

Someone else paid via check and i wanted to print free postage from paypal so i changed the address of the recipient of the item of the paypal payer to the check payer. Do you follow?

So whoever paid via paypal gets a message about a package they already recieved.

I just updated my new website - give me your feedback on it.

Thank you Toben88, I understand now!

But here's the catch.....instead of being notified about a package that I had already received...it shows up as another separate transaction, with a different item number, finishing price, etc.. and shows as an incomplete transaction on my account page on Paypal and Ebay both. I am not so concerned about that, because I can mark it paid on Ebay etc and basically ignore it.....

I was more concerned that the actual buyer would be directed to my account, through a clickable link in her email? Or since I got the email from Paypal.. perhaps she didn't get an email at all? Yikes! The more I think about it the more confused I become!

But Toben88, thank you again for your explanation on how this happened!

Even if the real buyer did get a link to your paypal account, it wouldn't matter. They would still need your password to get in.
