Why do people collect spray paint? My husband thought I was nuts today when we ran up on a bunch of old spray paint in a shed and I started rummaging through them. I guess I'd never shown him the prices they bring until just now. I looked on Google to see why they collect this but couldn't find any discussion on it. All I could find was a collector looking for some:

"Here is something that I think everyone has tucked away on your work bench, or in a garage. I am looking for your new, used, or empty spray paint cans. I normally pay a minimum of $3 a can, if it is something I need, but will pay more for better, or older cans. Here are some examples of cans I am looking for. Krylon paint made by Borden, not sherman williams. Rust-Oleum paint that has a copyright date of 1978 or older. If it has the scottish guy on the front and is a clean can I will pay a minumum of $8. Derusto paper labeled cans. Red Devil Cans. Celolite cans. Any can from department stores. Odd shaped cans (cans not your normal size) Any can in the color avocado, or called chineese red. If you are not sure of what you have, and would like to make a few bucks, and or help a fellow collector out, let me know."

This isn't my ad, I just want to know WHY people collect this. Gee this guy is willing to pay a whole $3.00 a can. Highest closed is green for $225.00 a can.

Why do people collect anything? Because they like it. I've met people who collect swizzle sticks, ashtrays, beer cans, you name it.

Personally, I collect info & memorabilia on animal actors of all kinds from the beginning of films up to the present...

Whatever floats your boat!

I collect inlaws, and I recently began collecting daughters' boyfriends....none of whom, I might add, will ever make it into my inlaw collection

weirdest thing I ever saw was a vacuum cleaner collection on TV. It took up a whole room. But still....a spray paint can collection?

You have no idea what people collect. I saw a guy who collected his boogers in a mason jar. he would even place one alone in a jar if he picked it on a special occassion. He said he's been doing it for 23 years.

Pretty gross if you ask me, but then again, whatever floats your boat.

By the way, he was diagnosed with OCD, so that would explain his condition. He was a client that I did work with back a few years ago.

Douche bags, aka Combination syringe were
strong a few years ago- but I think most people who wanted them have a full set by now - at least the prices have dropped.

glassgirl, I wish you would have posted this last week. I just got rid of some old spray cans. (why we kept them is anybody's guess.) Do they even want the dryed out ones??

(those other 'collectables' are too far gone for my tastes... douche bags? boogers? whats wrong with people anyway?......)

Glassgirl--I saw that episode on TV where the guy collected vacuum cleaners. Damnedest thing I ever saw.

I ran into a guy who collects eggbeaters. He has over 200 & no 3 are alike. Go figure. To each his own. I collect Dolphins. the swimminjg type not the football type. Had to quit at 100 no more room.
