Well the results are in. I have just concluded auctions of FLD on the yahoo auctions. It was not as good as I wanted but was suscessful. I listed 971 items, mostly coins, and sold 49. That gives me about a 5% sale thru rate. I had items that range from $650 to $5. I grossed about $1017. My final value fee was $15.71 and my Listing fee would have been $278.71. It is obvous that my profits are a lot greater on FLD. I could not tell you exactly what my net profit would have been, but it would have been in the negative if it wasn't for FLD. Clearly listing fees are far more expensive that FVF.
This goes to show that it is better to wait until FLD to list items than continuely listing week after week. The listing fees will eat you up. FLD comes about every quarter on the yahoo auctions and once or twice on the ebay auctions. Usually sale thru rate are higher on ebay than yahoo but not by much. Either way it is not worth listing when you have to pay the listing fees unless you want to work for nothing.

That's exactly what I was thinking, fenix!

Yeah, he posts this every time Yahoo has a FLD.
Okay, this time he listed 971 and sold 49. After taking off his FVF he made $1.03 per listing. Of course he has to deduct his inventory cost from that grand sum.
Which to me means he IS working for nothing. Unless he can do one listing per second, which I doubt.

wgm - ok - found the feb post - this time he doubled his listing but sell thru went from 8 to 5%. Interesting thing is that his sell thru final total despite more than twice the work in posting was less than last time (BTW - also boasts a 15% sell thru on ebay FLD).
Am I the only one thinking that the real way to increase his profits would be to use the 971 coins to buy a different type of inventory?

Free listing days are profitable and the best gift that we get from eBay,Yahoo etc. To make money this way requires non traditional methods. With the right business model its a great way to maximize your sell thru rate and make extra money on eBay,Yahoo etc. I listed 5000+ auctions in less than 3 hours in December and netted well into 4 figures profit. dbest is just letting us know that you can be successful using a non traditional style. And you can. I am one that will not feed eBay packs(stores etc) to make more money. I will take advantage of FLD and reduced fees though, every time.

Now there is extra support for the low lifes.
First you have the freeloader dbest, who can sell a damm thing in a regular listing and chuck who sells worthless sports cards and should keep them at the deadbeat site, bidville.

Stonecold613 ,who is an ebay employee, is right in that I am a freeloader but I have become that way only because of the high insertion fees and the much lower sell thru rate. The more ebay gives FLD the more I freeload. It is more profitable to freeload than payload. I am not the only one that feels this way, I have many friends that wait on FLD also.
Many have noticed the errosion of quality materials on ebay listings over the last 3 years. WHY? Fees too high. Ebay is only profitable as a sideline when fees are reduced for people that are in business. But people that just want to clean house it is a good way to give away your junk. Have you noticed lately that this board is flooded with ebay employees trying to be a cheerleader for ebay and run down all the other sites like yahoo and bidville? Sure your sell thru rate may be a bit higher on ebay but your profit per item is greater on the other sites.
Now we know the motive of people like stoncold. They are afraid that if sells on ebay are not up they will lose their bonus.
It is people like stonecold that gives ebay the name of feebay or greedbay. Truely he displays the true heart of ebay for it has a heart of stonecold.

I have to confess, I applied for a job with Ebay last month and was notified Friday that they want me to start work next Monday. My job will be setting up promotions, such as free listing days, and deciding which Ebay members to exclude from participation in those events.

There isn't much for the "cheerleaders," to run down about Yahoo, Yahoo committed suicide a few years ago, and are down the tubes.
ebay, well, I certainly dont list like I use to, I would but it is simply too costly, and I can make more by working through our web sites. eBay is digging its own grave, of course there is a sucker born every minute, who think they are going to make a mint over night on eBay and will cough up lots of those listing fees.

eBay is the service that works best for me. I don't use bidville, yahoo or others. But I may at some time for free listings in the future. If you list few items then FLD is not a big deal, but if you list thousands as I do then it saves several hundred of dollars in listing fees. It doesn't matter what your sell thru rate is the cost to list is still $0. I list both weekly and on FLD. The effort takes about the same amount of time to list weekly or list thousands on FLD. But,FLD makes a whole lot more money. In my book, it is the greatest gift eBay gives us.

Since I am relatively new here, how do we know in advance when FLD days are on eBay? And how often do they happen?
Thanks,
