So this guy wins my auction. Fills out the WBN. Writes in the comments section that he does not like Vendio because they sell the bidders names to junk mail companys. My shipping is way too high.....

Turns out this guy is a close friend of my family. I didn't notice the name because it was a common name like Joe Blow.

He saw my name and called my brother to find out if it was really me selling sports junk on Ebay.

I thought it was a cute story to share with you.

Hi Jeanine,

That's funny! I sold a couple of pretty heavy books, turned out the winning bidder lives 2 blocks from me. I dropped them off at his house and picked up the check. He was happy and so was I.

Oh, I know!

Have your brother hand-deliver the package. Maybe at a backyard BBQ in honor of the friend.

last summer i sold a book...the winner answered my eoa with "just bring it to work with you tomorrow" he is in the office next to mine. if he had ever mentioned he liked the author, i would have given him the book instead of listing it.

being confined to a wheel chair, last fall i ran most of my major furniture pieces::: 'no shipping, must pickup auctions.'

sold a large old e/lake bed - out of curiosity, i checked the buyer's info...OH LORD, IT WAS TIMMINS, ONTARIO, CANADA[[way north of lake michigan]]...

turns out the buyer's uncle lives less 30 miles from me - and went home every summer..they paid me extra $240 to store for six months -- just picked it up.

I sold a Beatles Tie to a lady whose husband was in the Air Force. They were stationed in London, as was my brother-in-law. I asked if they knew him. Turns out her husband worked for my brother-in-law at the Embassy and the wives were friends.

I sold something last winter to a young woman in Clutier, Iowa (town of about 300+). I was surprised to see the town's name, as I spent about 5-6 years of my childhood in Clutier when my father was the pastor of a young church there.

Turns out - she was the daughter in law in a family there who knew my family, and her mom-in-law grew up & went to school with my dad and brothers. They had just had a beautiful snowfall, and she went out of her way to photograph the ENTIRE TOWN and my father's church for me. She emailed me a large file with about a dozen pics - which I, inturn, printed and mailed to my dad. He was thrilled to see them, let alone hear from the family!

Tres cool!

I had a person who won an item who happened to live in an apartment building that at one time my entire family had lived in, All my Grandparents, Aunts ,Uncles on both sides of the family and me and my parents of course. He was kind enough to send pictures of the Remodel. How strange to see a shipping address that was familiar for about the first 18 yrs of my life by the time all my family had moved on.
