I would have killed him, buried him in the backyard, and told everyone he ran away.

But selling the Playstation was pretty good too!

If this is a true story, This person has MUCH bigger problems than some financial loss for the booze, she needs to do MUCH more with a 13 year old than sell the playstation. Sounds like a 13 year old alcoholic...

ebayvet, there is evidence of one drunken party, where does that say alcoholism? i work with mental health and drug rehab service in our area, you cannot assume that from the information we have.

years ago i was looking for a new family doctor and when i saw this specific dr for the first time, you were asked to fill in a questionnaire. one of the questions on the form asked if you drank and if so when was your last drink and what was it. i answered truthfully that my last drink had been a whiskey sour 8 months before at a new years party. after reading the form the dr asked me "how long have you had a drinking problem", huh?

alcoholism is an illness not one juvenile party.

As the mother of 7 children, the youngest a junior in college, I would say this person has much bigger problems with her 13 year old than just "mischief".

Since it is evidently the only thing he TRULY cares about you have to ask - What's she gonna do the next time he screws up?

a person who worked in my office once left her teenage daughter home alone over the weekend. we are talking a 17 yeard old here. when they returned they found over $15,000 worth of damage to their house. she had a party and over 50 kids attended. the police were called when they were on the roof of the house and out in the street fist fighting.

kids learn what they are taught. i am sure "little johnnie" has been a sweet angel up until now.

I've got a friend with a kid like this. Don't worry the parents know they have no little angel and are probably going over his raising to learn what they have done wrong.

It is, IMHO, peer influence, mind altering substances, TV and video games, and the LCSW culture of trying to make society dependent upon 'counseling' for resolution. Not to mention the erosion of the family and legal interference in corporeal punishment.

Little Johnnie should be shipped off to a military school. Might not help, but his parents lives will improve. I recommend a survival type school in the deserts of the southwest. One with a high survival ratio.

I am not nearly as worried about his parents as I am about him. That listing is jam-packed with hostility toward her son - there's not one loving or even kind word in it. If I had read something like that that my mother wrote about me when I was 13, I would have been completely annihilated - much less put it on eBay for the world to read.

Punishment is one thing. But she's trying to expose her son to intense public humiliation - which strikes me as fairly immature.

The parent seems more concerned about the economic loss of alcohol than the impact drinking will have on this boy. I don't know, when I was 13 I would not have known how to use a cork screw. I know times have changed, but again, if all said is really true, this is a much bigger problem then selling a playstation to make up economic loss over booze drunk by a 13 year old. If this were my child, they would be grounded for the summer, and I would attend an AA meeting with them so they can see firsthand how destructive alcohol could be. I wouldn't be concerned over the loss value of booze, but over what I can do to try to prevent something like this from happening again.

Yes, very sad for everyone involved.

My personal favorite part of the story is where the mom says, "...BECAUSE US PARENTS ARE SMARTER THAN YOU... I AM SELLING THOS PRIZE possession..."

Is she really smarter if she says "us parents" and "selling thos prize possession"?

Hmmmm.

I was biting hook, line abd sinker on the description until it got to the corkscrew. What happened is the 13 year old traded or swindled som kid out of the system and needs some cash. Mom says "Let's market this thing to some sucker on Ebay and we'll split the take. But we need a gimmick to make it stand out from the competetion". So mom and son cook up this description, and without even having to take any pictures, float it on Ebay. The kid is not a delinquent. He is not an alcoholic. He is not the victim of child abuse. He is a future Powerseller.

I've been on eBay for almost seven years now and I've NEVER been tempted to bid on an auction just to leave feedback... until now. Too bad it's over.

If it's a joke, it's a very poor one. If it's true, that's even worse.

What a crock.

Imagine that weekend the 13 year old all of a sudden decides to disobey

Imagine going to the skating rink to pick up a 13 year old & he isn't there & not be frantic.

Imagine a kid going home early, when his Mom was going to pick him up later, & having a beer & champagne party.

Imagine expecting us to believe that the kid tried to use a corkscrew on a bottle of Dom Perignon. In fact, imagine a bottle of Dom Perignon in their frig.

Excuse me, but I really take offense to the last comment.
"McJane...Imagine a bottle of Dom Perignon in ANYONE'S refrigerator in the state of Arkansas"

I happen to be from Arkansas. Not everyone here is a beer swigging redneck that wears no shoes and keeps hogs and chickens in the yard. In fact, those are few and far between.

And, YES, there just so happens to be a bottle of Dom Perignon in my wet bar refrigerator, bought by my husband last week for the purpose of celebrating the birth our new baby when he comes home within the next month.

I may be opening myself up to some not-so-nice replies, but that's OK. Just giving my two cents worth.

Imabride2b...Please accept my apology for any offense. Certainly none was intended. I was trying to emphasise the fact that everyone else in this thread, except McJane, was possibly wrong about the motivation behind the auction in question. Please let us know when the new one comes into this world and I'll join you at this end in a toast (probably with two buck chuck)

I really do hope they take their son to be evaluated. There are some obvious psychological issues. It is a sad situation, but in defense of "Dear Old Mom", this auction was to explain why she was selling the Playstation. I believe selling this Playstation was a last resort. I believe she put up this auction for two reasons:

1. To teach her son that he should respect thier possessions like he does his "beloved" Playstation.

2. To make her son understand that his destructive behavior does have consequences (morally and financially)
