I'm distraught!!!!

I just got my first "Neg" from a lady who apparently accepted a "Second Chance Offer."

She negged me because she said she was never contacted by me and never received item.

Well, I was never contacted by ebay that the Second Chance Offer was accepted. This woman never emailed me. Never. The only reference I have to her or the auction number is within the email sent to her with the second chance offer.

She never did my checkout.

I have no record of the auction through vendio as it was a second chance, though the checkout button was in the auction and she chose not to use it.

Is there a vehicle for a neg to be removed if both buyer and seller agree that it was an error or miscommunication?

I had 100% and was very proud of it.

Now I could just toss my cookies.

Big Ole Sad Face Here

Any Advice?

If you and the buyer can work it out together you can go with the mutual feedback removal offered by Ebay. The comment will remain, but you will revert to 100%. Or you can go through Squaretrade for $20.00 and get it removed completely. I have never used either option, so I don't know if it would be advisable to leave her a neg also to make it work. Perhaps someone with more experience in this process can chime in with some good advice. So hang onto those cookies for awhile. There is a possibility this can be worked out.

Like you, it ruined my 100% Feedbacks when I got neg # 1, 6/4/04. While I did everything possible to expedite the refund, PAYPAL goofed and never did the refund after 38 days of "reviewing" it. I should have known better since it was an international transaction. I've heard good things about Square Trade's Neg Feedback Removal Service. It cost $20 but I'll try it and report the results back to you - OK?

Susan,... pretty easy to do the mutual feedback withdrawal system ... i had it dones with a newbie that admitted his mistake in negging me, (and i had not left him any feedback yet) ... it was all resolved and done within 24 hours at the time ...

of course you will have to have good email communication between you and the negger ... (you said she never received your communications?)

here is url to the mutual feedback withdrawal 'system' ...

Most 2nd chance offers aren't tracked with 3rd party auction managers if launched directly from the Ebay item description.

You should have monitored the progress of it yourself then imported it to whatever system you use.

It is NOT the bidders fault you didn't contact them. To them you went out of your way to offer it to them then POOF!! disappeared.

Sorry you got a neg but unless you can work it out with the bidder you are stuck with it.... If the bidder then wants to continue being vindictive then start the NPB process........a bid is a bid afterall regardless of their attitude over timely contact.

If this person is being unreasonable and negged you only after a couple of DAYS then NEG HER BACK! ........that way she'll have the motivation to participate in the feedback withdrawal........otherwise she might tell you to stick your neg where the sun don't shine.

I have used SquareTrade with total success -BUT it is basically, at least to me, a blackmail system. Buyer and Seller must agree, and the buyer can make ridiculous demands, and if you don't go along with them - zap, they won't agree. So you pay to get blackmailed, but if you go along with the buyer, your neg is removed.

I am a member of SquareTrade, but I would think long and seriously before I'd pay another buyer blackmail.

I think I'd have to agree, that in your situation, I'd give the buyer a negative, and hope that would encourage her to be more reasonable.

Best of wishes

Ah well .... It's over .... Huge sigh of relief .... The neg has been removed.

I wrote to the lady, included the link to remove the neg mutually, I left her a neg that said "Ebay notification failure, pursuing mutually agreed removal of neg feedback" ...

My note to her explained that I had never received notification from ebay that she had accepted the 2nd chance offer. I apologized for the confusion, but added that had she emailed me questioning if something might be wrong, I could have remedied the situation immediately, and she'd be toting her item within three days.

I've done many 2nd chance offers ... most I never hear from again ... I would not contact a person again unless I received notification that they had accepted the offer. This was the problem ... I never got the notification from ebay that the offer was accepted.

It's too hard to track these type offers, so I've decided I'm not going to use 2nd chance again. Rather than that, I think I will email the unsuccessful bidder, including a link to another auction that has the same item for bid. That seems much safer and doesn't violate any rules.

The upside of the whole story is that we've exchanged several very pleasant emails and the lady would still like to purchase the item.

win/win

Thanks for all the input .... Lesson here is contact seller/buyer prior to leaving a neg!!! Let cool heads prevail.

A second chance offer won't show up in vendio and the checkout button won't work.

I have received 2nd chance offer but never took them up but what I did do was email the seller and give her/him the reason why.

Susan -

I just did a "second chance" to an underbidder.

The auction closed, and I discovered my top bidder was in France. My TOS is clear on "US bidders only," so I voided him.

Before I sent the second chance to the underbidder, I explained the process - that he would get an email from eBay with the "second chance" offer in the form of a separate, 7-day "Buy It Now" auction at his highest bid (not the winning bid made by the French guy, which was $1 higher).

I emphasized to him that when he got that email, he had to hit whatever link to "accept" it, which he very much wanted to do and did immediately.

But I didn't get any sort of notice via email from eBay that the offer had been accepted.

You have to check your "sold" section. Once it's been accepted, it gets bumped into the
"sold" category as a separate auction with its own auction number. It's easy to miss because it's a repetition of the original auction - same title, etc.

So I think it's a good idea to ask the person to email you and let you know whether they're going to take the offer or not. Then you can confirm it by looking in your "sold" section.
