I've been lurking here to see what Vendio people think of the new My eBay and other recent changes, and how they affect buying and selling. Not seeing a thread, I'm starting my own.

I've been using the new My eBay since it was first offered in beta, and eventually I got used to it. But, I think there is too much blue on the screen, making it hard to find what you're looking for. I don't much like the little status symbols either. Before, when an item was paid for by Paypal, the screen said PAID, but now there is a dollar sign that is either pale (not paid) or bold (paid).

Other changes made by eBay lately are disadvantageous to sellers, I think. Dropping sub-categories in favor of item specifics has made browsing very difficult. Gallery photos have gotten a little smaller, and item titles are faint and hard to read (unless you pay for Bold).

But by far the worst "improvement" from the seller point of view is the ability to watch up to 100 items. This causes fewer bids to be placed, and as we all know bids are what makes auction prices go up. Now, all but the least experienced buyers will only bid at the last minute - and then, where's the auction?

I'm wondering how to adapt to all this, and would love to read the opinions of others. Many thanks in advance.

There is a thread on this when it launched a couple of weeks ago. I have mixed opinions about it as well. I don't like where they have placed the item numbers. Everything goes by items numbers and they made them so small and at the end of the title that I have a hard time finding them. I also don't like the symbols. I do like the ability to mark an item paid when it has been paid by means other than by paypal. And even though I went to live help and they "fixed" the problem, I still cannot combine invoices.

I agree with much of what you say. In addition, not having the totals at the bottom of my "items I'm selling" is a bummer. Sometimes when my auctions weren't going very well, I'd look at the totals and at least feel a bit encouraged. Having to manually add the $$ of the ones that will sell is no fun.

I don't understand why they took the totals away.

Good morning all,

It did take a bit of getting used to but I like it.

As far as showing the totals, click on the customize button, highlight current price and click the arrow pointing to the right. You can select top or bottom by using the up or down arrows.

Thanks again, Lucy. This is an odd thing--when My Ebay page first changed, I bookmarked it and that was the page no totals were on. This morning when instead I clicked on Items I'm Selling in the column over at the left, the totals came up at the top of the items list. I hadn't done anything to get that! But I like it, of course, so now I've bookmarked that page instead of the original one (in my toolbar at top for quick reference).
