Has anyone else gotten one of the “Monthly Charge” notices from ENDICIA ??

I have been using ENDICIA postage service for a couple of years, with no problem. Naturally, I had purchased their "Dazzle" program. THEN TODAY, I received a notice for a MONTHLY USAGE CHARGE!! I've never gotten one of these before and I emailed them, asking them what it was for, and they said a monthly charge to use their software!!!!!!!!

I don't know when this was instituted, but since I paid for the program, I have no intentions of being charged a "monthly fee," and am not so enamored with the program that I can't do without it.

I have been moving more and more to UPS, because I got tired of what seemed to me to be unexplained charges by U-Pic anyway.

IF, ENDICIA is going to all of the sudden start with a monthly charge to use a program that one has already paid considerably for, I’ll just totally switch to UPS.

Has anyone else encountered this?

I've been with ENDICIA for THREE YEARS, and I've ALWAYS had to pay a MONTHLY CHARGE + POSTAGE!

NEVER, at any time, did I understand that I had purchased DAZZLE!

I love ENDICIA, but, with the back-stab by the USPS & PAYPAL, it is hardly worth the $14.95 MONTHLY fee anymore

I just thought of sumptin:

Did you buy a PRINTER + YEAR of ENDICIA package??

They had some packages that included 1 YEAR of service along with the PRINTER!

Tomwill No, I didn't purchase a printer or 1 year program.

The only thing that has changed lately, is I was printing a couple of thousand dollars of postage a month through Endicia, and with my unhappiness with U-Pic, I started switching a large amount of our shipping to UPS, since we have a UPS account, and a daily pick up. I know our purchase of postage through Endicia has dropped dramatically, but I told them and U-Pic when I started making the change, why I was doing it.

WHAT exactly do you mean by you comment of:
"I love ENDICIA, but, with the back-stab by the USPS & PAYPAL, it is hardly worth the $14.95 MONTHLY fee anymore" ????

I am awaiting another response from them now.

My problem with U-Pic, was I was getting the same charge month after month for insurance, and it made no sense since obviously my usage changed monthly. I wrote U-Pic asked them about such, and never received a response.

WHAT??

Why pay $14.95/mo for ENDICIA, when EBAY+PAYPAL USPS shipping does the same for pennies??

For small potatoes like me&Ralphie, ENDICIA is a waste of moola now.

Considering all the R&D Endicia did with the USPS, this seems to be a real screwing of Endicia.

If you do a huge amount of USPS shipping, ENDICIA still makes sense -- but sadly, no longer for me.

As soon as I run out of my DYMO 330 LABELS, I'll be dumping a company that I've been extremely happy with for 3 years!

and Endicia just added "reprint label" to their service. No more waiting for a refund. Makes it hard to give up now....

Yeah, the final SAD straw was that the USPS gives STEALTH printing to PayPal-eBay FREE after all the R&D done by Harry & ENDICIA.

For LARGE USPS users, ENDICIA is STILL the BESTEST MOST FANTASTIC mailing program out there!

I looked at a program that offered 1/3 the goodies that ENDICIA does & charges $49.99/month!!!

But for short-stuff like Ralph-&-me, tis no longer even slightly cost-effective..

I've been waiting 3-4mos hoping that ENDICIA would come out with either something to blow me socks off, or, at least lower the price for littuns' like me, but donna look like that's gonna happen

I will sadly miss this VERY FINE COMPANY!

stopwhinning

I didn't have any grip with U-Pic for a couple of years, but I wasn't really keeping a close eye on my account till the last 6 months when 4 months in a row my bill was exactly the same, which just doesn’t make sense, since shipping through Endicia and therefore U-Pic was changing dramatically with us. I questioned U-Pic about this, and basically received no answer. We will see what they come up with this month - since I've dropped from shipping hundreds and hundreds of packages through Endicia and U-Pic, to just a few, when necessary.

I am switching in favor of UPS, which is really working out better for us, and there isn't the claims hassle, and the returning of bad labels (the re-print) feature is fine, but if an order is canceled before it ships, then there is still the hassle of doing a form, sending in the labels, just too much trouble when I can just void such on line with UPS, plus I don't like the odd accounting occurring with our insurance via U-Pic.

The odd thing is, in the 2 years plus I’ve used Endicia I’ve never encountered this monthly fee before!!! But, be that as it may, I won’t pay a monthly fee for as little use as I plan on using the USPS in the future.

jwpc:

1) There has ALWAYS been a monthly fee to use ENDICIA!
2) If ye ain't been paying -- donna shout too loudly (LOL!)!
3) In THREE years of use, I've NEVER seen DAZZLE offered for "SALE"
4) It used to be $9.99/mo -- then about 18mos ago they changed to a 2-tiered fee system of $9.99 or 14.99/mo
5) If you can find a receipt for "purchasing" DAZZLE, you should send it to ENDICIA, as they are really WUNDERFUL folks & I'm sure they will straighten everything out for you!

THAT BEING SAID, the company that runs ENDICIA is Envelope Manager, whose main product ain't DAZZLE, but extremely powerful BUSINESS MAILING software tools!

Some of these tools INCLUDE DAZZLE when you purchase them! Such as "DAZZLE EXPRESS" here:

http://www.envelopemanager.com/

They used to sell DAZZLE PLUS as shareware, but is now FREEWARE -- however, that is just a mail DESIGN software -- not ENDICIA!

Yer bestest bet: CALL ENDICIA support & talk with these nice folks!

MAYBE this be YOU?? From the ENVELOPE MANAGER site:

DAZzle Plus

DAZzle Plus has been discontinued. We have instead focused our development of DAZzle into a postage printing client. If you are an existing DAZzle user you can download the latest version here for free (see below). Since we are offering this upgrade for free, we do not include any technical support.

To disable the postage printing features, you need to uncheck two settings under the Postage|Postage Options tab:

Make sure that Print Postage and CheckAccount Status at Start-up are unchecked. DAZzle will then operate as it has in the past although you will see a few new features like an Address Book.

Here’s the program update:

SETUPV4.EXE

If you ship packages via USPS, you will really want to consider signing up for our postage service. See www.endicia.com for details!

It has always been my understanding Endicia is not free.I looked into it every now and then and pass, because there is a fee.
So how did you get away without paying a monthly fee for 3 years ?
could it been some kind of promotion from U-PIC??
I am still waiting for a check from U-PIC,I wonder how solvent is it??

One distinction that I should have made clear but is confusing is that there is a DIFFERENCE between DAZZLE and ENDICIA!

DAZZLE is the free mailpiece SOFTWARE that Envelope Manager includes with:
ENDICIA.COM, which is their USPS online POSTAGE service.

It is becoming more and more of a mystery.

I use Dazzle, and print postage, and have been for a few years.

I'll check with Endicia direct.

***********
(2nd) Has anyone else had a problem in downloading the current UPDATE to Dazzle?

**************

stopwhinning I understand your questioning of the solvency of U-Pic. I've never put a claim through their service, because the few I've had over the last 3 years of using U-Pic, were not worth the effort to jump through all their hoops. I wonder when I get my bill from them via USPS, e-mail, etc. It seems a bit desperate to me.

That is another reason I'm moving most of our shipping to UPS, as I can do the whole "claim" issue on line and via fax, without the hassle U-Pic has.
