check out this costume jewelry auction 4906192268 and tell me why they are bidding so much. granted, the weight of the box is impressive, but the jewelry on top looks like dime store 50 cent items to me.

yet, i look at auctions where everything is laid out nicely and some nice pieces, no bids or 1 bid.

go figure!

Jeez, that's a high bid for not knowing what's in it. They must really trust what the seller is saying. I doubt seriously that he didn't look for gold and precious stones before selling the lot.

I see a brass barcelet, what looks like cultured pearls, and some cheap plastic. Maybe some of the bidders had him email additonal pictures, and they saw more than we did.

Bookmark the seller and see what feedback the buyer gives them. That will tell what really was in that box....

I have watched auctions like this before and after the completion of the sale and feedbacks are traded it wasn't good for the seller....

good suggestion Libra, thank you. i have got this on watch so i will be able to check it later.

i see this type auction quite often and cannot believe what people will bid. we might as well sell grab bags stapled at the top!

wait a minute, one seller does do that. the auctions have a large pile of items and says "you will receive at least 10 items such as the ones pictured" shipping on his is $25.00 and they always seem to get bids.

Whenever you see an auction like this one, click on the seller's other auctions.

When I look at the other auctions for this seller it looks to me that they know what sells and the good pieces are being sold separately so if I was interested in bidding on the "surprise box" I would think it's mostly the low end or broken pieces.

People that don't know jewelry should not bid on jewelry auctions. I was at an auction last Saturday where they had a hugh box of Costume Jewelry divided in zip loc bags. There were two bags that had 1 item each that was good. The first time auctioned the person paid $7.50 a bag. took her choice. auctioned again it was higher, the same bidder who won the first was the high bidder again. I don't know how many she took that time. One more time they were auctioned again. The same person won and took it all. Paid over $100.00 for Junk. Another piece auctioned was a enameled clamper bracelet from the 60's by Hattie Carnige. Good designer but for $35.00 there was no resale in that piece.
When oeople are bidding they forget. This is why jewelry isn't selling is because can bidders trust the seller....

Here's another auction almost exactly like the one in this post. Sold for over 300.00
The buyer left FB saying among other things "lots of treasure in here"

Wonder where she/he gets all this stuff & it looks like junk to me, but the buyer is happy.

I wonder the buyer of the second box will say.

Who would bid on something you can't even see? Silly me - it looks like at least 43 people did on this last one! I think for that price - it would take a gamblers heart to bid that high!

I love costume jewelry, but I wouldn't take that kind of a chance.
