To keep this Ebay related...I have been spending a lot of hours doing pictures, and researching, etc. so that I can put up auctions of all my things on Ebay. I am determined to clean out the things that I have had boxed up for a couple of years, and haven't gotten to yet, as well as get my web site online finally. Well maybe it's because of the many hours my coffee maker is plugged in, or is it just because they just don't make them like they used to, but another one just went out on me! I have been going through them at a rate of about 1 every 2 months! Just wondering if anyone else has had problems with their coffeemakers going out more frequently? If this keeps up I am going to have to sell a lot more just to keep me in coffee! My sales have been picking up lately at least. Hope summer doesn't put too much of a damper on those.

Take it to the fix it shop and have it neuter'd. That should keep it from going out!

You're likely making the mistake of buying them new at Walmart or somewhere. Those ones have a very limited life-span it seems.

Buy old ones at yard sales, if they're still working good after all the years the previous owners had 'em, they should last just about forever.

You might want to get an electrician to check your outlet. My friend kept having her applicances "die" and her brother (an electician) came for a family function and discovered her outlet had too much voltage coming out of it. Downright scary. OTOH, I have a Mr. Coffee from Walmart that has lasted almost 2 years with no problem and I make 2 or 3 pots of coffee per day.

Yes, it cud be the quality or the electrical outlet (scary). I've been getting my FREE COFFEE MAKERS for years from Gevalia Coffee Co. Excellent makers -guaranteed for ONE YEAR, or replaced free. I got a combo coffee-tea maker this Jan - and after about 10 yrs of free coffee makers, this was the first to go out. I called them, and they replaced it for free.

Your initial order is always just for the 1st order of coffee - right around $15. Shipping free and maker, cups, or whatever else they are promoting comes free. You can cancel ANYTIME. It is a really super deal. Coffee & tea products are very very good also. Try them.

I am an avid coffee drinker and since I sell on eBay from home, I make 4 pots a day.
In my opionion, the new ones they make today are so cheaply made and never seem to last. I have gone through many coffee makers. The one I have now is a Krups and I've had it for over a year now. Makes great coffee, keeps it hot but the thing leaks water condensation in the back when I lift the lid to take out the coffee filter to remove the grounds. Drives me nuts!

I have old electric coffee pots from the 1940's thru the 70's that still work perfect........go figure!

I have vowed that this one will be the last new one i will ever buy. I am stashing the old ones so I'll be set for life
I even bought a vintage Kitchen Aid electric coffee grinder from the 40's that still works perfect! I was afraid to buy a brand new one and I don't want to even go into irons and toaster ovens!

Hi, I think minniestuff hit the nail on the head, My coffemaker died yesterday the third one to go in a year. The last one was a gift from my sister and a real good one, my husband mentioned to me last night that the kitchen light did not go on and the bulb did not die. He was saying he believed it to be the outlet and is going to take it apart this evening.

The longest lasting coffee makers I have EVER used are the cheap Proctor Silex. They sell them at Walgreens, other stores, maybe WalMart for under $15.00. In at least two different business, we have had ones that we brewed several times per day, left the burner on all day and they lasted for 5 to 7 years!

I just replaced one that was over 5 years old at home. I had to replace it because, as usuals I broke the %^&$@&! carafe! It is sometimes cheaper to buy a whole new coffe maker that a new carafe!

Being that I live in Portland, Oregon, a coffee maker is top priority, especially in the winter.

I purchased a middle of the road Mr. Coffee about 2 years ago at Target and love it. My favorite feature is that it has a removable water container on the back so that I don't have to fill the carafe and then fill the machine. Instead I fill the water container and drop it back onto the machine. Beyond that, I love the timer, the temperature control, and the chrome and black design. It makes a perfect cup of coffee each and every time, and looks like it was just removed from the box.

By the way, if you are ever in Portland, I would recommend picking up a pound or two of the Ethiopian Harrar whole bean coffee at Stumptown. They are by far the best coffee in the Pacific Northwest. Don't be suprised to see them compete with Starbucks a few years down the road. I've seen this small coffee roaster/shop go from one location to 3 in just a few years, and there are about 50-75 coffee shops in the Portland area who only use Stumptown coffee for brewing. Hmmmm. Gives me an idea... Maybe I should sell Stumptown on ebay!!!
