LOL ... I never DID 'get' dutch auctions easily ... I have one that will end soon, and it is for 7 available sword blades ... but right now on my bidder list page, it shows 1 guy high at $10 for 2 sword blades, and the underbidder at 7.01 for 7 sword blades ... that equals 9 and we don't HAVE 9 .,... i know the bidders "win" at whatever the lowest amount shown is, but I don't understand why it is adding up to 9 items. Can anyone explain it to me so I don't embarrass myself at invoicing?

THE GUY WITH THE HIGH BID GETS THE TWO AT $10 EACH, THE OTHER GUY CAN GET WHAT LEFT AT $7.01 IF HE WANTS SO YOU REALLY SELL ALL 7.
JUST BE CAREFUL RUN IT ON SOME CHEAP ITEMS FOR A WHILE TILL YOU GET THE HANG OF IT, WE RAN BOOT INSERTS THIS WAY FOR A YEAR, I NEVER THOUGHT WE WOULD GET RID OF THEM. YOU ALSO HAVE TO WATCH THE BIDDERS THAT THINK THEY ARE GETTING ALL SEVEN FOR A TOTAL OF $10. ESPECIALLY IF IT IS A NEWBIE EMAIL THEM TO BE SURE THEY ARE GETTING THE QUANITY AND PRICE THEY THINK THEY WANT IT ELIMINATES LOTS OF CONFUSSION. HAPPY BIDDING

dado is correct, thats how dutch auction works.
the low bidder who bidded on all 7 does not have to take any if he does not want to.
some bidder has reason to want 7 ,if he cant have 7,he does not have to take any.

Exactly, estate. The reason being is because there is a higher bidder, and he can't have them all, as he bid. It took me a bit to make dutch auctions sink in.

Well, thank you all for helping me have it 'sink in' ... I found the ebay explanation of the dutch auction a minute ago and it concurs with you, of course. ... oh well, with any luck maybe the underbidder will take the rest ... thanks all.

Hmmph ... well, the bidding stayed/ended right where it was at ... I always use ebay's Invoicing system, and I made sure to send a copy to myself too, on these two bidders ... I was real curious how the underbidder's invoice was going to read, and, as it turned out --- if he received the exact same one I got a copy of, it basically said, 'congrats, pay your seller x amt. for 5 old sword blades' (did not tell him he had option to 'not take them') ? ... I guess if the bidder knows how that works, he would let me know if he doesn't want them ...
thanks again everyone.
edited to add: LOL, I guess EBAY doesn't understand dutch auctions either !!!
