Is any one else having trouble with ebay search. It will not load and all it shows is the upper page links. No wonder no one is bidding. They cannot get to the search page to find listings.

No Problem here.

Possibly you are having an ISP problem or the problem is resolved.

Stonecold,

I followed national computer guru Kim Komando's instructions to disable Active Java Scripting as one of several steps to help avoid the newest internet virus until Microsoft has a fix, along with the steps recommended by Microsoft that Tomwii posted a link to in an earlier thread. I had the same problem as you until I enabled the Java scripting again. Did you disable it in Internet Explorer?

The info on the new virus was on these boards in the last few days. Kim wrote about it Friday (yes, June 25th) Below is the portion of Kim's article I saved in Word.

I use McAfee Firewall and Virus Scan and the Virus part has been updating seems like daily lately.

PLEASE NOTE THAT HER ARTICLE SAYS THAT AT LEAST ONE EBAY SITE WAS COMPROMISED. I don't know which one. I have added bold portions for emphasis.

----------
SECURE COMPUTING: Stuff to keep you safe from harm!

--> INTERNET THREAT IS POTENTIALLY DEVASTATING
Russian hackers reportedly compromised many Web sites, beginning
in midweek. The code placed on the Web sites in turn placed Trojans
on the computers of people who accessed the sites. The Russians then
could download malicious software through the Trojans.

The problem arose through flaws in Microsoft's Internet Information
Server 5, which runs Web sites, and Internet Explorer. Even properly
updated computers were vulnerable.

The downloaded software includes keyloggers. These are used to record
the victim's keystrokes, in an effort to steal passwords, credit card
numbers and other confidential data.

As of this writing (Friday), security companies were working madly to
blunt the threat. Panda Software and Trend Micro said they had updated
their software to eradicate the Trojan. That was probably true of
other anti-virus publishers, too. If necessary, update your anti-virus
program manually. This is critical.

ZoneAlarm confirmed that its firewall would stop the Trojan from
sending data back to the Russians. If you are using ZoneAlarm, be very
careful if a file asks permission to access the Internet.

According to published reports, kbb.com (Kelley Blue Book) and
MinervaHealth.com, run by a healthcare financing company, were among
the sites compromised. A page on eBay also had been compromised. It is
possible that many other sites had been affected.

Here are my recommendations:

1. Switch browsers. I'm using Firefox. It is free at:
http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/

2. If you continue to use Internet Explorer, you can disable active
scripting. To do that, click Tools>>Internet Options. On the Security
tab, click Custom Level. Change Active Scripting to Disable.
This will limit the functionality of some Web sites.

3. Update your anti-virus software.

4. If you don't have one, install a firewall. You can get
ZoneAlarm through my site at:
http://www.komando.com/bestshareware.asp

Folks, the threats are ever-growing. You must protect yourself.
I will do all I can to help you.

Don't know about all that but I had the same problem this morning and now pages load quickly. Seems to be an intermittant problem with ebay since I have had the same problem in the past for a period of time. If I click stop, page listings show up (incompletely) when this happens and when I click refresh all show.

Nice thought on the Java Script thing, but I never screw around with those types of things.
Turns out that it was working this morning. Not sure what happened as I could access all other parts of ebay or any other site I normally view.
I think ebay was screwing with it as you can no longer use the option of all items on the same page. You are now limited to 200.

Since last night, eBay's search is screwed up for me. It loads part way and then tries to load again - over and over. If I'm very specific as to what I'm looking for, search works. For Example: If I search silver necklace, nada. If I search silver carnelian citrine necklace, success.
