Not to be confused with MYcheckfree.com. I thought it was the same thing, but when I checked, it looks a lot like MYcheckfree. I use mycheckfree to pay many of my bills. Handy service.

Hello priest

I've been offering CheckFree for maybe a year in my listings and I've had a total of 2 buyers use it. I continue to offer it because it is easy for buyers to use, as it lets them pay from their checking account, but I don't know why they don't use it more often. PayPal's similar eCheck option takes much longer to confirm and clear the payment, adding to the wait time to ship their item. My guess is they go for the familiar.
CheckFree is easy, works well for both buyer and seller, and it seems secure. I offer it simply as another payment alternative for my buyers.

This is the first I've heard of it but I am intrigued by it. How does it work in terms of auctions? I've read the information on the site, but still not sure how it works. Secondly, am I correct in that there are no fees for either the buyer or the seller??

CheckFree is not charging transaction fees to the seller for the month of JUly as a promotion. Normally, it is .1% of the transaction. There are no setup fees or monthly fees.

It seems painless to me. I don't understand why more buyers don't use it. But, as I said, I just include it in my listings as an option.

CheckFree is essentially the same type of interstate bank transfer system used by many European banks for crossborder transfers i.e. IBAN/BIC transactions. Also one of the main reasons Europeans don't need to use Paypal for international payments in the Euro zone. Many Europeans don't have or need credit cards but instead rely on good old cash.

I've offered CheckFree as a payment option for over a year and have not had one buyer use or ask about it.

I'm surprised that the major banks haven't jumped into the online person-to-person payment business. Seems like someone sould try to give PayPal some friendly competition...

Re: Other banks in the person-to-person payment business, I remember Citibank offering a service, but never used it. I believe that it is no longer in business, though.
