Sorry.. I posted it on the RT.. I keep forgetting that this is Ebay related only.

But.. since you don't mind here goes..

I was watching the opening ceremonies of the Olympics last night when the teams were entering the arena. When the Canadian team entered, the NBC announcer said something like... Nicolas Gill was chosen to represent Canada and carry the Canadian flag.. but he had said that he would prefer to carry the Fleur de lis ( spelling?) the Quebec Province flag, as he is a Separatist..

Please don't quote me, I am still not sure that I heard him correctly. But, if I did..does this make any sense? Why would Canada choose Mr.Gill to represent Canada and carry the Canadian flag, if he is a Separatist? If he supports the break up of Canada and the independence of his province, to me that makes him a traitor to Canada..am I not seeing this correctly? Did anyone else happen to hear this last night? If there are Canadians who post here, can you explain? Thanks. Dr.do

Oh, okay, the Olympics... Guess I didn't realize they were going on.

So how come he didn't carry both flags?

Never mind... I figured it out. Quebec's a province, Canada's a nation. Duhhh...

He is Quebecois and there was a desire to become separate from Canada in the mid-nineties.
There was a big vote and it did not pass.

I love the Olympics.
Plus, if I work it right, I can wake at the crack of dawn to see the equestrian events, because NBC would rather show nekkid beach volleyballers than the tres ancient sport of horsemanship. Yes, a sport based on the three disciplines taught by cavalries world wide over many centuries has been supplanted byt wobbling buttock muscles and sun scorched shoulders.
But hey, whatever. I'm not bitter.

BTW, Bob Costas is seven kinds of idiot. Hopefully he will be OFF for the 2008 games. What a twonk. Even Katie Couric sounded irritated. The comment about one countries traditional costumes was stupidity incarnate.

Now to make this ebay related: how are olympic pin sales on ebay?
I'm about ready to cash in a CD and go see some damn Anky Van Grueson win the damn gold! Cuz I won't see it here!!!
