Tennessee going after "unlicensed trading assistants" is just nutty.

“When you handle people’s money and valuables, it is important you follow legal and ethical guidelines and maintain trust,” Gordon said.

How about a little candor here? How about what is really important is that you render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's?

In other words, it's all about the tax money.

PayPal handles a mindboggling amount of other peoples' money but I don't see it having to be licensed or regulated.

I'm sure PayPal has an occupational license and pays corp taxes.

Interesting read, I'm curious where other states fall on this issue.

This is a Pip off pure and simple.

The biggies pay nothing and need NO 30 hours of training? e bay bungles Millions of ,,,,,,OTHER PEOPLES Money......

E bay will be,,,,,,,,,asking? for our support to thwart this legislation. They tout somewhere ,,,,,,,I saw it once about fighting certain laws enacted....Some Political page,,,buried deep in th bowels.

Never mind the tag line,,,,I'll delete it now that e bay gobbled it up too.

Give Craigslist.org a try. List anywhere. Take a L@@K see for yourself. Not just for local stuff. You can still ship. And now, another partner of,,,,,,,,e bay.

They are talking about trading assistants in this article.

"When you handle people’s money and valuables, it is important you follow legal and ethical guidelines and maintain trust,” Gordon said"

I certainly do agree with that and I am sure the vendio poster here who bought from a trading assistant the llardo statue, paid for it, bought insurance and never received the statue would agree with this. He then would have another outlet to go to instead of Paypal to try and receive what he paid for.

This trading assistant wasn't ethical in my books. According to the poster the emails sent to this seller were never returned.

Suprizingly enough, auctioners and auction companies are not required to be licensed in California. Anyone can call themselves an auctioneer or an auction venue and hang a big sign in front of their office with no oversight at all. Even Ebay.

raising the cost of doing business is one way to weed out competition.

Just goes to show how government bureaucrats screw things up by trying to help. What TN sellers ought to do is just buy the stuff and then they would would be auctioning their own property.
