I haven't sold anything on Ebay in quite awhile nor have I listed in quite awhile. It's been over a year and I have accumulated lots of neat stuff to sell. So a couple of weeks ago I got turbo lister and after running several test auctions to see how it all worked I decided to list some auctions. Here is the breakdown in the billing that I was sent after launching my auctions.
Item 1. Insertion fee; $0.35
Scheduled start time; $0.10
Photo; $0.15
Total fees; $0.60

Item 2. Insertion fee; $2.40
Reserve auction; $2.00
Scheduled start time; $0.10
Photo; $0.15
Total fees; $4.65

The only difference between these 2 auctions is that 1 has a reserve and the other does not. It looks like I am being charged twice for it being a reserve auction. Or am I wrong about this, I don't know. Is this the way that Ebay does it now with reserve auctions?

If my reserve auction ends without meeting the reserve I understand that they will keep my reserve fee but if it reaches my reserve I will not be charged the reserve fee but what about the extra $2.05 I was charged for the insertion fee?? Am I reading this wrong or understanding it all wrong??

I believe eBay has increased the fee for the reserve from $1 to $2. It will still be credited if the auction meets your reserve but not if it doesn't.

You'll probably want to check with the eBay site under their seller fee section.

I should add that the starting price on both of these auctions is the same so why then is one insertion fee $0.35 and the other insertion fee $2.40 this is what I have the discrepency with, not the reserve fee, or are the insertion fees tied to the reserve in some way??

You have to pay extra for a reserve auction. If that auction reaches the reserve you should get your reserve money back. If it doesn't reach the reserve that is the price you will pay for that auction.
Check and see what the charge is for the amount of reserve you put on your auction. If it is high then the price for you to use the reserve is high. Just hope you sell it.

Thanks Libra but that is information that I already know. You missed my point totally, so I will say it again.

Why on one auction is my Insertion fee only $0.35 and on the other auction it is $2.40 both have been started at the same price?? The insertion fee is not the reserve fee, the reserve fee was charged to me seperately at $2.00

Ed to add; if I were to go by what you are saying I think then my total fees charged would be $2.65 but they aren't. My total fees charged are $4.65

Yellowstone,

when you set up a Reserve auction, the insertion fee is not based on your beginning amount but on your Reserve Amount.

If you start an auction at $9.95, the insertion fee is .35

If you have a reserve auction that starts at $9.95 and the reserve is say $50.00, the your insertion fee is based on the $50.00 and not on the $9.95.

If you reach your reserve amount, you will be credited the Reserve fee of $2.00 and you are charged the $2.40 for the insertion amount.

Hope this is clear.

Thanks, it's clear now. It didn't used to be that way, if I recall correctly. They sure do have all sorts of ways to get your/our money with fees, don't they.

$*&^@ing Feebay, grrrrrr.

Ed to say; Sorry for the censored expletive, call it a realization vent, ok.
