I recently made all my auctions private. Now I(the seller)can't even check out who's bidding on my auctions, until it's over. Is there any way I can see who's bidding on my auctions?????????

I wouldn't bid on a private auction under any circumstances. It made sense somewhat back when it was easier to email bidders, due to auction interference -- but why now?
Didn't it used to be for "racy" items of an adult nature? Even so, it's easy enough to get another id for such purposes.

OP- Personally I am an advocate of private auctions for many reasons, not only do they protect your bidders privacy but they protect you from auction interference from other sellers. The other thing I am a big advocate of is the AuctionWorks site (now MarketWorks) which is much the same as Vendio but with a plethora of added functions including... showing you the ID of the high bidder ID even on Private auctions thruout the span of your auction.

Before Ebay changed the look of the "My Ebay" page, it was simple to view the identities of who was bidding on your private auctions. Clicking on the "details" button would reveal all the information. I don't know if Ebay eliminated that feature, or carried it forward to the "enhanced" pages, but if a third party can find that info, certainly it must be available to the seller somewhere on Ebay's site.

i know several antique sellers who have private auctions,their reason is to protect the id of the bidders(some are dealers who buy on ebay and sell in their brick and mortar stores).
But the truth is that those sellers with private auctions are selling repros,not antiques and they dont want new bidder to read their feedback which they keep private and they dont want new bidder to contact anyone who bidded on the auctions to compare notes.
one has been exposed by seattle newspaper and is no longer selling on ebay.Another one in Canada is still selling and issuing certif of authenticity dating items to be a few hundred to a few thousand years old.
There are some based in China,same #*!@.
