How does anyone sell anything over a holiday weekend? Is is worth it to have auctions go through the weekend? Or just start them after Labor day?

I am glad you brought it up. I completely forgot about it. Labor Day in the past has been dreadful so I will be waiting until the next week. People are doing two things. First preparing for the beginning of school and taking their final mini trips of the summer. Then the next week will be the adjustment period with the new school year plus the settling down from the short work week.
Things will pick back up for a couple of weeks, then all heck should break out for the Christmas Season.

Actually, I've found that auctions that end on a Monday night of a 3 day weekend do quite well. Many people spend the Holiday drinking beer and celebrating and are in a very free spending mood and bid quite high. If I could just figure out how to convince them that they won the item and have to pay, after they sober up, I would probably be rich.

I like to start auctions on the Sunday of a holiday weekend as well as have them end that day. All the people who don't have to go to work on Monday are up late on Sunday.
A golden opportunity to search eBay.
My theory (which will no doubt be disparaged here...) is they are looking for auctions that are ending. When they look at mine there's a good chance they'll check out my other ones and either bid or at least put them on watch for a bid later in the week.
My holiday-weekend auctions generally do very well.

We are not talking about Christmas Day. I think we all have good sales then. If not, you are doing something wrong. In fact, Thanksgiving is a very good day for sales as well. But Labor Day weekend, might be good to start some auctions, but never for ending them.
