I used to get this great email with my invoice telling me exactly the date my payment for eBay would be taken from my checking account.

Well now with their billing problems I have not gotten that email. I just found out 2 days ago what my invoice for August was. My payment used to be taken out between the 2nd and 6th but now I don't know when it comes out.

How do I find out?

If that $50 comes out of my checking account tomorrow I'm going to bounce about 4 checks and I have no idea how to tell when it's going to charge.

Anyone?

Thanks.

they are still snafu over there, helga ... there IS no way to know what date they will take your payment, or if they'll even take it at all.

borrow money from friend ,neighbors or relative.
talk to your personal banker and see if there is anything they can do.
or tell your bank to block ebay??
or call ebay?

Good luck on this one??
I had the same problem but it was my paypal account that ebay charges. It took forever and when it finally showed - it showed as pending for like 10 days and would not clear (but the money was already deducted) CS couldn't help me so I decided to use my ATM/debit card and make a one time payment, as paypal said they would be putting it back in my account the next day. Well that didn't happen - it cleared instead. So I said ok - I'll just let it ride and have a credit for the next month. Then I got a email from the ebay CS guy stating he had reversed the charge????? WHAT - Without asking me??? Yes - it would take about 10 days - OK which account did you revise. DON'T KNOW??? So I had to leave an extra $180.00 in my checking account just in case. What a pain. Now I touch NOTHING - just let it do it's thing

I'm hoping that once sales pick up through September that I can just keep up on my eBay fees with my PayPal account and I won't have to worry about this. I think if it doesnt' come out until Thursday I'll be okay but not knowing is going to be bad - very bad. If I made about $100 in sales tonight I'd be alright. Wishful thinking. ;\

I just got mine for August and it states "not less than 21 days after the date of this invoice". Mine used to come out on the 5th, but now it's later. Last month it came out about two weeks later than normal. Who knows? Just plan to have the money in your account on the date it normally comes out.

Ahh that's the simple solution to keep that in my account ;o) Single parents on a tight budget don't have a spare $50 floating around ;o) I just wish I knew like I used to when the payment was coming out of my account.

Am I the only one who has eBay fees put on a credit card?

I noticed the tiny discount you get if you let the long arm of eBay reach into your checking account, but it didn't seem worth it.

My eBay and Vendio charges go to my PayPal card. I don't know about any discounts for using a bank account - never did that.

The PP MasterCard has a 1 1/2% cash back on it when used as a charge card. I use it at the PO and when I use FedEx the charges go on it too.

Oh, when I want my eBay money I just use the card for whatever, gas, groceries, gambling jaunts to Elko, etc.

I don't have a credit card or I would use that option. Like I said things are very very tight for me and it's so important for me to know when this payment comes out of my account. One or two bounced checks could put me in a hole for months.

I really really hope things pick up on eBay for me (and everyone) soon. I already work 2 jobs - it would be a godsend to have a little more to back me up.

I wish my bill were only $50!! Any month mine goes below $100, I think I've done no selling at all! All kidding aside, I do know what it's like to be a struggling single mother! I've been there. I am now the mother of a struggling single mother and that is almost just as rough! I thought my days of buying school clothes and supplies was over!

Hi Cheryl

Oh my I would be so happy to have a $100 bill because it would mean that I was selling something!!! Someone posted here once that their bill was like $1,000 or something and I almost died. I can't even imagine.

I'm trying ~ like I said I already work 2 jobs on top of doing what I can do on eBay so I don't get much of a break. I'm really looking forward to it being "busy" again!

It's good that you help your daughter that way - I dont really get that on my end from my mother (who was in my shoes many years ago) so it's nice to hear that other mom's help out their kids when they are in need. I'll be that way to my daughter someday

Helga-been there done that. I didn't receive an invoice for June/July so I paid with my credit card to get my balance down to zero. Well, 3 days later I check my checking account and it's about $60 less than what it should be. Lovely Ebay took out another $45 plus that caused an overdraft in my account. I have emailed Ebay twice about my overdraft with NO answer both times. They never sent me an invoice telling me they are taking out the extra money and that pi--ed me off along with the overdraft and no responses. I could care less about the actual $45 taken out of my account because I know I would use it up anyway. I am almost tempted to contact the Better Business Bureau and file a complaint but I don't want to get NARU'd from Ebay either if I file a complaint.

Ahh that would kill me if that happened to me meowmix. I wish I had a CC so I could just do it that way, I'd feel better. I'm so afraid that payment is going to come out tonight.

For once, I am with the teacher on this one. The safest was to pay ebay is by credit card. If there is a problem, dispute it with the credit card company. I use my Discover card and get cash back too. And they charge Ebay up the wazoo to accept it too.

Helga, I dont know where you live but many of the supermarkets and convenience stores now have where you can buy a prepaid mastercard or visa in a set dollar amount, like 20, 50, 75, 100, 200, etc. (I am not sure they do 20 but ...)if you could buy one of those and they will charge you about 10.00 initially for it, then you can re-load it every month with whatever amount, and just put your ebay fees on that. Here is a web site about one of them: www.mymccard.com
[It sure beats having ebay going into your bank account if you dont have a credit card.]

It's unfortunate that your mom didn't help you. Mine did and I guess that's why I'm passing the "tradition" on. I'm sure you'll be a great help to your kids! Afterall, just because they grow up doesn't mean they go away!

eBay is very slow right now for me so I can relate. Without the extra eBay income I'd really be in deep doodoo. I just recently took a second job, but I don't start it for two more weeks. I can relate on all corners. I'm almost 50 and shouldn't have to work two jobs.

My advice is to NOT get a credit card. Credit cards and struggling single mothers don't mix. I speak from experience on that one.

Best of everything to you! It'll work out. Somehow it always does.

Cheryl thanks for your post - very sweet!

My payment came out last night - all I wanted was for it not to and I'd have been okay but I only bounced one check, which is better than the 4 I thought would bounce. IT's still bad, now I have to cover all of that today before 1 p.m.

I need to figure something else out though so this doesn't happen again. I'm going to try and just pay as I go through the month so that I don't accumulate a big bill. Or eBay could get on the dang ball and send out the emails again that let you know when the payment is coming out.

Helga, when we were young and living from paycheck to paycheck we were still able to get an overdraft on our checking account that covered small overages. That money was like a yo-yo! Out of the account one month and back in the next for several years till we were making enough to keep a cushion in the account all the time. We still have an overdraft that we haven't used for years. I don't know if you could get something like that on the bank account you have but it might let you sleep better at times like this.

I have never been a single mom but I do know what it is like to watch the bank account as every penny clears. Best of luck to you and your family.

do you have a paypal debit card?
if you do,paypal will notify you if your account does not have sufficient fund and give you a few days to transfer fund from bank account to cover the deficit.
This will buy you a few days.

I use my paypal for ebay and once the funds weren't there but I didn't get any kind of notice? Is this something you have to set up?

i dont think so,but this is paypal debit card, not just paypal account.
If you use the paypal debit card as a credit card and get a 1 1/2% rebate ,the merchant charge comes thru and paypal find out you dont have enough fund in your paypal account,it will send an email giving you time to cover the deficit.
may be someone else can shed more light on this.

I don't understand them taking it out last night. It's not even the 2nd yet, which means they took it out early. Live Help might be able to assist you in figuring it all out. Mine usually comes out on the 5th, but by my calcs it will come out two weeks later than normal. They're just not specific anymore. The date of my invoice (going by the date of the invoice) is 8/29. The email explicitly states: "Your invoice amount of $xxxx will automatically be deducted from your bank account on file no sooner than 21 days after the date of this invoice."

I'm assuming that means the email date and not the billing cycle date. It's very confusing.

Anyone have a clue?

I'm upset about bouncing a check because of the extra cost and stress it causes me but I'm more upset that it's so up in the air, that they don't even say anymore when it's coming. I didn't even GET an invoice in the email this time, I found out by going to seller account on my eBay. So I didn't even get anything that says the 21 days thing or anything like that.

Why does eBay try to fix something that isn't broken???

I already called them to explain what happened, I didn't want them to think I was some crazy out there bouncing checks. The fee still applies, I still have to pay it (which I understand, they have to make money too) but still.

Is it Christmas on eBay yet?

It seems that your eBay business is not bringing in enough revenue to support itself.

Yeah, yeah, I know, people are going to say I'm the big bad meanie for pointing this out. Heard it before. Doesn't bother me.

Believe me, when all you can do is come up with "wishful thinking" solutions to solid financial problems, you're in trouble. Been there. Didn't get a t-shirt.

The answer to "I'm not making enough sales on eBay" is not to list more and more. The answer is to raise some cash now -- outside of eBay -- to get you through. To get you to a point where you can step back and evaluate whether or not eBay still works for you. (Many people have found in the last few months they are losing a bundle.)

Time, perhaps, to go back to traditional methods. One of our major newspapers is offering free classified ads for objects selling at $250 or under. Got boatloads of inventory? Liquidate some. There are the old standbys like garage sales and pawn shops. For large quantities of similar items, there are liquidation web sites.

Other people have cash. You can get your hands on some of it. Just not on eBay.

I'm not on here looking for sympathy. You, iareateacher, seem to have meanspirited down posts on nearly everything.

I already work 2 freaking jobs at the expense of not getting to spend time with my child. I'm not working a third job, that is why I do eBay. I do sell on eBay, just not enough at the time being. I don't go out and buy stuff to resell, I make the things I sell - about 5 or 6 different types of things.

I'm sure that as this "lull" ends from the summer I will do better. Having a $50 bill shows that I'm not listing and listing and listing. If it was $500 it would indicate that I am.

I'm doing all the right things. They just aren't all clicking together yet like I need them too.
