Hi guys. I received an email from "paypal" which is a receipt for a payment which I never made for an ebay item. I don't even know what the item is (it just says for: myst III) What the hell is that? For $270! No one except me uses that paypal account, so I know what I buy with it. Anyway, at the bottom it says "If you did not authorize this payment or if you need assistance with
your account, please contact PayPal customer service at" and gives some link which I haven't bothered clicking on yet. Also, at the top there seems to be an image missing, suggesting that this is some fraud email. Funny thing is, my account looks normal, there is no money missing that I can see. All the transactions are normal and I don't use paypal to buy very much, so in the to/from column most say "from" meaning they are payments I have collected. Everything that says "to", I know of. Here is my question. Is there any way someone could take money from my account without me noticing? Also, who should I notify about this? Thanks. I hate all these fraud emails!

Ok. I did a search on the seller ( I don't want to give the name just yet) Hes been around since 1999 and has absolutley ZERO feedback. And now hes selling a $270 item?(i think its a video game, not too sure though)Something just feels a little "off" about the email. How do I report frauds to ebay? normally I just ignore them, but this has to do with my paypal so its different. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.

Myst III is a computer game. However since the email is totally bogus it could be anything they wanted to plug in.

The advice you received from OhMsLucy is rigtt on!

<<Is there any way someone could take money from my account without me noticing?>> Yes there is. Click on that link and fill in all the information they ask for. Your account balance will vanish so fast you'll never see it. Do as Lucy says and forward it to [email protected].

If when in doubt about a spoof e-mail like that, never click the link provided. Always log into your account the correct way and check your history. And transactions that have been made, will show up in your history the second that it was completed. You state that there is no transaction there. This tells you the e-mail is fake.

I happened to go to an antique sale this past weekend there was an eBay seller that clicked a paypal email and $10,000 disappeared from his paypal account never to get it back. It went to a foreign country. That was a great payday for them. I told him from now on sign into Vendio and use the discussion board for any doubtful emails you should get, or any questions that you might have and don't know about. I told him how very smart the members are. Not me but the seasoned ones.

He sells high ticket items and by the sound of it does really well but to leave that much in a PayPal account is stupid. I didn't say that to him though. Then I got to thinking about it. It is easy to hide your paypal account from the IRS and maybe that is why he does it.

Let me get this right. First of all you invite another ebay seller over to Vendio. So he arrives only to see you calling him stupid and making assumptions that he's hiding his money from the IRS? Wow, I bet he will love reading here after that one.

I sent it to [email protected] and they havent replied yet (i don't know if they usually do) Even though I was pretty sure that it was fake, I was still a little concerned at first. I also got one saying that I had a new email address added to my accout, but i didn't. Anyway, I just would like everyone to be aware of something like that and never click on the link they give you. Some emails look very real and try to get you worked up enough to give them your info. You can go to the site and login to your account. You shouldn't have to use a link to sign in and check your account.

They will reply to you. They replied twice to the last one I sent...once to acknowledge receiving it and once to alert me to their findings.

Hey superhot ... IT IS DEFINITELY A SPOOF/FRAUD/SCAM/RUSE ...

I have been getting VERY similar ones stating I purchased this that or the other for a few months now .... they are completely false, and yes, you should copy the header/details and forward to [email protected]

definitely a spoof...do not click on it. I freaked out when I got one until I checked my PayPal account and all the money was there.

one of my high bidders this week fell for the ebay one that tells you it will suspend you account if you don't click and update, she clicked. said she has had a mess to clean up as far as changing password, etc.
