O.K. I've had it with Paypal. With all the problems in the past and now this current B.S., I am ready to drop Paypal and move on to a real online credit card processing company.

I have spent half the day looking for a processor online, boy is there alot of them. To many for a simple mind person like myself to figure out which outfit is best.

So I am turning to you kind folks. Can any of you suggest a decent company or red flag a bad one? Does anyone here currently use a processor that is reasonable in pricing and customer service?

Thanks, Curtis

The problem I'm having is that most I've seen require YOU to put in the customer's credit card numbers and personal information. I don't know about anyone else, but my customers on eBay are not about to give me that information.

I use Verisign. Everyone says it is high, but it cheaper than PayPal. It was the one that was offered with my website and I could use it with Vendio checkout, so I went with it. I was surprised at how many customers pay with their credit card. I have only had one chargeback. I sent it the info they asked for and got the money back. So, I'm happy with it.

You can also do manual transactions. Every now and then I get a customer who sends an e-mail wanting to buy something. I've had a few call on the phone. And then there are the stupid ones who chose PayPal as the payment option and can't figure out what to do. Fifteen e-mails later, they send the info and I do it for them.

Be kind. Everyone is fighting their own secret battles.

I use Pay Pal but for my website I use Authorize.net. It it cost me less than $200 to sign up. No problems.

I use Cardservice International. Rates are a little less than paypal. My gateway service is Authorize.net. Luckily MarketWorks (auction listing program similar to Vendio) has an intergrated link in their checkout so customers can select payment via Visa or Mastercard, enter their card nformation, and everything is automatically process without me having to deal with, or actually even see, their card info. They have even integrated mandatory shipping/billing address matching and CVV verification if you want to use those features.

If it's really "common" sense, why do so few people actually have it?

I use NOVA, and we have for both on line and for our physical shop for a number of years, and are pleased with it.

We use an on-line cart on our web sites, but we run the sales through our own processor, which is cheaper than the one which comes with most cart systems.

CBlev65252 I post on Ebay also, and give my customers the choice of PayPal, or calling our office with credit card information, and many choose to call us with their information.

We have never had a caller be hesitant to give us their information. Of course it could be that we have been selling on eBay for 8 years, have established web sites, and obviously appear stable and reliable to the customer...perhaps that is why we have had no problem.

I imagine with this last fiasco with PayPal we will be getting more and more calls, as the customer trusts PayPal less and less.

Personally, I don't necessarily trust eBay or PayPal and their "REASON" as to the outage - it may be true, but I changed my PayPal password anyway.
