In the last three weeks I've had two media mail packages not reach their destination. Local postmaster says even if they were inspected and there was an issue they would be delivered anyway, postage due.

Anyone else experiencing a problem with this? I've never lost any package thru USPS, in my entire life. I'd be suspicious of the buyers, but twice in such a brief period to different folks and that they were inexpensive items is making me paranoid of sending anything media mail again.

I include delivery confirmation with every package.
Even Media mail, it's 55 cents.
It might be free online, I still have to get a scale so I can utilize that aspect....still trying to resusitate my ol' imac.

Here is a tip: NEVER BUY MEMORY OFF EBAY!!!
Sorry, it's on my list of "never buys" on ebay.

I haven't had any not arrive, but it has been taking longer for media rate packages to reach their destination lately. Yes, they state it takes 8-10 days, but usually it takes a bit less--about 6-7 days (& I've had some get there in only 3). Lately it as taken 10-12 days for some of my media rate packages to get to the buyer, and I've had several "where is my item" emails.

Hi All,
The reason why this is occurring with Media mail packages not reaching their desitnations is because there have been some customers of the USPS(where they be Ebay sellers or not), ripping off the USPS by sending non-media mail items through media mail. The post office manager has started to stamp my packages with a new stamp that states "Open & inspected for media mail" so that noone down the line will open it and ruin it for delivery. Many people are sending items that do not fall into the USPS media mail criteria such as books, videos, audio, etc. They are cracking down on individuals who may send clothes or curtains using Media mail. So if you do go to the post office, ask the clerk to stamp the media mail packages to prevent future heartache. Check with your post office.

I sent one video media mail last June-a month later the buyer still insisted he did not get it,and since I didnt have deliverly confirmation,I had to refund his money.
Mid-Sept comes and the buyer sent the money for the video-it took 2 1/2 months for him to get it.I was shocked it took so long as he lives in my own state! I was also shocked he actually sent me the money for it as he could have kept the money and I would have never known it.Know I send EVERYTHING with DC on it.

Thanks for your comments. I asked the local postmistress if she would inspect my media mail going out and she politely refuses to do it - not her job apparently. And I'm not blaming her for anything. Her point was that they'll get delivered in any event.

If I use delivery confirmation, is USPS liable then if the package goes lost or do I have to purchase insurance also?

It could be they are just taking a long time to deliver, 3 weeks now, in one case. I refunded that guy's money because he had, rightfully so, decided he wasn't going to get the item.

You must purchase insurance coverage to have any claim for a lost package. Your claim will be easier paid if you do have Delivery confirmation though.

Comic books. Never mail comic books without insuring them. They have a very high loss rate in the USPS system. The USPS has machines that look right through your package and nothing looks like a comic book, except for a comic book.

I mail out hundreds of media mail packages a week, and my loss rates are actually a little higher than they have been. I decided to go with a flat rate plan to have everything I send be insured by a 3rd party provider, so I don't really sweat it anymore. I do use electronic delivery confirmation, so if it is not delivered, the customer gets a refund and so do I.

Yeah, drop the political crap. I'm sick of all of it. I swear, if tomwii posts another anti-Bush thing, I will start a 527 called Ebay Vets For Truth.
