I've been wondering if a Ruby Lane shop would make a good addition to or alternate to listing antiques/collectibles on Ebay?
Does anyone here have any experience or insight into Ruby Lane?
(I do realize that I'd have to overcome my paypal aversion to open a shop there!)

tried it for about a year. so-so results, got rather expensive. dropped it and opened an eBay store instead, which makes me much more $ with less cost and less work. also had a lot of buyers who were either slow to pay or deadbeats and there was no NARU process at RL to get rid of them.

Hi
I just opened a store on Ruby Lane this sunday and from what I see its good, they put you into al the major search engines which is 12.00 a month for that and the fee to sell up to 50 itmes is 15.00 over that is 30 cents.
you can list it for a long period of time just like a web site, you show up on searches and your items can be linked with your ebay aucton which is good and more coverage.
my problem right now is they didnt open my store yet they said i didnt click on :"review my store" which I have done many time, Oh, and the sign up fee is 50.00 for them to set you up,
You also have to pay ahead so your money is there for when you list, when you run low you add more money as you see fit.
I'm hopeing it works because Ruby Lane if a respected site with strick rules, which makes shoppers feel relaxed when dealing with one of the stores on Ruby Lane.
I think its reasonable enough for what you get and the site is easy to use, especially when you list your items, its real easy.

I had a shop there for 3 years.
Great for 2.5 years then they did their site upgrade, raised their monthly "advertising" fee and their monthly listing and maintenence fees. Sales went down while the costs went up and many of us left (and more leave every month).
I now have shops on Go Antiques, Trocadero/Cyberattic and an ebay store. All do better than my RL shop was doing in my last months there and most important on Go Antiques and Trocadero/Cyberattic there is excellent customer support (phone support not email). On all my sites it is cheaper to maintain a large inventory (I normally have about 600+ items in each). Go Antiques even has an ebay Live Auction feature for higher end items.
Don't miss RL, not for a minute. My business improved and my selling costs went down when I left.
