Before you go out and buy your turkey, your soon-to-be-landfill christmas gifts, give these boys and girls a boost!

If it's really "common" sense, why do so few people actually have it?

You know this really touches my heart for some reason. It's hard to imagine that Uncle Sam does not provide all they need and yet I can well believe that. I was always one of those in school that was periously close to being the last one chosen when they started picking people for sports and things - I guess that's the button it pushes for me. You would think everybody would get mail and yet...you know that the odds are that everybody DOESN'T get mail from "home". Everybody thinks the war is over.

And for the last week or so there's been a poliferation of ribbons on cars that they're buying somewhere - probably Wally World, I saw one there. If they'd only put their money towards something like this instead...

what is essential is invisible to the eye."

We have an organization here called Blue Star Mothers that sends packages over to the soldiers. I am not sure if it's a nation-wide organization. Anyway the company upstairs in the building where I work (An outsource company we use) is collecting donations for the BSM. They have lists of items needed to send them. One item listed was Girl Scout Cookies ( I kinda chuckled at that one) because they are not perishable. It's a large list. This organization has sent out thousands of packages since the conflict over there started.

My brother was over there when this fighting first broke out. He is in the Navy and was on the USS Constellation. He is on shore duty now in Hawaii (lucky) and his ship has now become decommissioned. The Constellation was the ship they used to launch the first major air attacks from. At least he's outta there but unfortunately not everyone had that opportunity to come back home since this stuff is still going on.

Meow - How did your brother feel seeing the Constelation decommisioned? There were many warm hearted jokes in San Diego when it happened since it was announced that although we would be losing the "Connie" as a home port ship, it was being replaced by the "Ronnie".

Fenix

My brother never said anything about it. He just went to the ceremonies and called it done.
