We just had two auctions knocked off within the past hour or so; 1 for an Alexander Calder signed litho, another for a Virginia Stroud painting. Both completely legit, as far as we know, and knowing the consignors, we're sure that they were gotten legitimately.

Who were the Vero members, what excuse did they give, and what connection do they have with original artwork and lithos? You need to get all the info you can, because if they (the artwork items) are legit, you will surely want to appeal, fill out the affadavit, and relist.

sparkz,
One of them responded to our request for clarification; perhaps the other will tomorrow.
Apparently the issue is with some biographical information that we included in the auction about the artists. I guess we lifted some copyrighted text with citation. The Virginia Stroud person was very reasonable and generous, actually, and I was pleasantly surprised.
Quite possibly the same issue with the other listing. I guess we have to either include less detail, or provide proper attribution. I guess that's only fair and we should have done it anyway.
