I got a telemarketing call today attempting to sell me either a book, info, or something to help me increase my international sales on Ebay.

Now what is funny, I have only had this number for a few months and it is in my husband's name. I only changed my information on Ebay a couple of months ago.

They asked for me by name - not Mrs. or not for my husband.

How did they get my telephone number, name and the knowledge that I sold on Ebay?

Is Ebay selling our information or is Ebay telemarketing?

Look at ebay's freebie of the week pushing International Sales and your phone call and guess... I would say ebay just entered a new field, Phone Solicitation! Oh joy!!!! Can't you just hear it now; Can we upgrade your account, can we get you to sell more, open a store, open 2 stores, advertise, use reserves in your auctions more often...

I too received an official call from an eBay representative today and his message also pertained to International sales. I must be someone important if eBay is calling me at home.

I was headed out the door with a friend when the phone rang, so I didn't pay a lot of attention to it. Somehow, it didn't seem like it came from Ebay, but someone selling the infomation. I could be wrong.

Personally, I am not bent out of shape by telemarketers. What would bother me is if Ebay was selling my information to someone. What other kind of info are they selling and to whom?

It makes you wonder if the spam, spyware, etc. might not be associated with Ebay.

Well I don't see how this spam crap is not associated with ebay? When I set up my second account with a brand new email address with in 30 minutes I already had spam that my account was suspended needed upgrading or some nonsense.
it does make you wonder what is ebay selling. Now phone calls ~ oh brother

It seems to be the season for odd phone calls. I got one today for a business I had 6 years ago. It's been defunct that long. They claim (someone in a clearly Indian voice) my subscription was ending (although they'd give me no specifics on the subscription) and that if I wanted to end it, they'd send me an invoice. HUH? You'll send me an invoice for ending it? I simply told her to "sure, send me an invoice. I'll be sure to forward it onto my attorney since I've authorized no subscriptions to any online anything". The next thing I hear is "click".

I also had a person email me and ask me to call her cell phone (long distance) if she won the auction since she doesn't have a computer at home. Well, she did and I did. It's sad that customers are needed that badly.
