They should first collect on the fees they are permitted but don't.
The postal centers for 3 major suburbs of St. Paul were not scanning electronic media mail delivery confirmations. Most of the clerks didn't have a clue.
Now .13 isn't much but times how many hundreds per day per week per year are getting through? All the posted and verbal threats that Media Mail is subject to search because people ar3e abusing the Media Mail option yet those same counter clerks have not educated or informed by managers that you must scan electronic confirmations (other than priority) so fees can be collected.

I knew that that was coming. Next hike 2006 then 2008. Everyone else has/or will be increasing their shipping rates also. Soon it will be cheaper for me to hand carry my stuff to peoples homes than to have it shipped.

Today I saw a notice posted for the counter staff where I was being waited on in the Post office. It was something to the affect of a reminder to the counter staff to remember to collect fees on oversize packages - something like $17,000,000 in uncollected funds per year...makes me wonder where else they are missing out.
I have a problem with the fact that if they are not doing their jobs correctly that we pay the penalty by increasing prices to cover the shortfall. How many of us get salary increases & pension benefits for doing an incompetent job?! heck most of us don't even get pension bennies - just 401k's we fund ourselves. What a racket!
