Well, I just received my notice regarding the increase in FedEx rates going up on January 3, 2005. Rates are to increase an average of 4.6%, but they are reducing the fuel surcharge by 2%, resulting in a net average rate increase of 2.6%. However, additional increases will be applied to Delivery Area Surcharges, and Declared Value Surcharge.
Maybe it's time I switch to UPS or are they going up too? At least the US Postal Service is not increasing until 2006.
Are there no other ways to ship at low costs? Pretty soon the cost to ship will be higher than the actual item being sold.

You can bet that "Brown" will be raising rates soon. I have an account with FedEx, haven't received any notice yet.

cta: We low-end sellers do sometimes see shipping costs higher than the winning bid on an item. It's usually a jolt for the winner, but they always pay. Feels odd, though.

Too bad - I was thinking of switching after the first of the year.
Guess I'll keep using DHL & USPS on most items
