Hmm, how 'bout throwing it in the trash? That is about the ugliest thing I ever did see.
Then again, list it as "Chalice with Stars" and you can probably get good money from the wiccans for it.
Sorry, can't help you with the potter and I ain't gonna apologize for knockin' it, it's just plain UGLY!

Hey! Good news! I found it in Ralphie's SATANIC handbook ("Wicked Wiccans") under the chapter devoted to:
"Boils, Poxes, and other Dermatological Catastrophes"

I DO like the COLOR, though...

Universal Pottery?? I understand they used to hire colorblind drug addicts to mix and apply the glazes.

Ya know, I always said there is a buyer for everything. I even believe that, but there are just some things I don't want in my house as a seller.
EP, sell that thing fast. I won't be able to sleep until I know it has met its match.
PS, Perhaps this thread needs to be retitled- how 'bout "Need to know maker of hideous Cup?"
And I thought Roseville magnolia held the title for butt ugly! I had a piece of that once, paid $3 for it. Was worth keeping in the house because I knew it was worth $400. Least that is what I sold it for.
EP, you'll have to come back and let us know what you sold this one for. Feel free to leave the picture out next time <g>.

On second glance, I'm now convinced that this "item" is actually the result of that infamous TOP-SECRET government experiment we all read about in the "Daily Planet"...
Remember that nefarious & sickening plot?
Yeah! When they tried to cross-breed an Oompa-Loompa with Rush "PapaPill" Limbaugh??

NAh, just honest.
Cruel would be if we bashed EP. But EP is much too nice for that.

Because of the aqua speckle glaze and the "atomic" style decoration, my thoughts are it's from sometime in the '50s and I'd market it as such.
Sorry I can't help with the markings.
I wonder if it came from a drive-in restaurant of some type... Maybe you bought a big sundae and they included the goblet?

I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong but isn't that color and speckle effect what was usually referred to as "Robins Egg Blue"

If it's really "common" sense, why do so few people actually have it?

THANKS!! I am laughing so hard at you guys. I know it's ugly but someone else listed something ugly and made a mint! Kinda reminds me of Frankoma. I wouldn't even call it Robin's egg blue. Most of my ebay stuff sits out but this thing is in the basement, in the corner. I'll keep you all posted.

I think that as long as you isolate this "item" from any contact with small children or dairy products, you'll probably be safe????

What everybody is trying to say is that you should include 'vintage', 'hard to find', and 'rare' in your description and/or title.

I don't know about "vintage", but "hard to find" and "rare" are probably accurate. I would imagine most of the pieces that match EP's cup have long since been smashed against a wall or deposited in the county landfill by the previous owners or merchants who got stuck with them. This may be one of the few surviving pieces. It might surprise us all at the price it brings. A good time to list it would be around halloween. Or maybe April Fool's day.

According to my book:
Ungemach Pottery Company of Roseville, Ohio marked their wares UP (#) USA. Sold in 1984.
Can tell you that it's a little on the gaudy side....

It's not only UGLY, it's HUGE. It's 8 inches tall and 4.5 inches wide. It never went with any dinnerware, that's for sure. I think someone used it for a planter.
