Everyday the post office comes to my office and picks up my packages. I share the expensives with the other companies that ship out of here.
A week and half before Christmas I ship out Two Express Mail packages. They weight five pounds each. (Going to the UK)
I missed the truck so I took the packages to the post office. The postage was already on the package. The man at the counter took the packages, looked them over and said ok.
I tell my customers the items where shipped and give them the tracking numbers.
Both customers inform me they never received the packages. I check the tracking numbers and they never left the post office. Yesterday I find the two boxes were returned to me letting me since 911 packages have to be handed to the clerk at the counter. I did that!
Has this happened to anyone else? Will I have to pay for shipping again? The post office stuck a couple of stickers on the original postage.

The label is done electronically. For months now they have been picking up my packages. This never happened before.

Then ye have been veeeery lucky -- I do know that the JAX main receiving depot WILL return any packies that have not had their CUSTOMS FORMS post-marked by a counter-person.
The really silly part is that the counter persons DON'T KNOW this & I have to remind them EVERY TIME I bring in an international packie!
If I forget to remind him, the packie comes HOME like a lost little puppy...

1. ALWAYS have the counter person post mark your item. Bless thier hearts, they are postal employees not rocket scientists. Often we sellers know more about the postal system than they do.
2. Here is a neat trick for getting the cheap USPS pickup service...
The charge is $12.95 to have them come to the door and pick up. HOWEVER, if you have at least one Express or Priority package they will come for FREE.
I normally ship media mail, first class and Airmail. When I want a pick up, I just upgrade one package (pick a nice customer) to priority.
This also works great for packages over one pound which must be handed to a postal worker (unless metered).

You should not have to pay any more postage. When I bring such packages back to the PO they just shrug, stamp it a couple of times, and send it back into the system.
