Unplug your modem and wait a minute before you plug it back in?

You really haven't provided adequate information to allow proper analysis of your difficulties. What Operating System do you have? Do you utilize any Anti-Virus software? Have you made any recent changes to your hardware or software? Are you experiencing any other problems? Is it only happening with eBay? Is your computer gay? What steps have you already taken? Maybe your computer refuses to link to rip-off sites, who knows?

parklane - "is your computer gay"

ROFL

raff - have you you used Windows update lately?

And for anybody else that's reading this, I know on my XP Microsoft put out some updates yesterday.

glassgrl~!!! ... yes they prompted me to download those yesterday... there were 2 file programs ... 1 of them was a malware removal tool, ... the other was a security system update ..... while lucky ME was d/l'ing them, computer froze ... when i rebooted and went TO microsoft to check on my 'updates', it showed the malware remove tool successfully d/l'ed, the 'security' one had Status as "Failed" ... i looked around MS website like crazy trying to re-download the security update, and there is no way do that?! ..... what do you think ... )WWGD?)

estate: isn't that "WWggD"?

clear cookies - run spybot, window washer and reboot?

oh I'm sorry, not everybody has WW.

Once you run WW and spybot you have cleaned out every cookie in the U-ie.

Try Spybot and clean disk and reboot.

Meanwhile I'll look around.....

WWggD?

estate: view installation history in WUdate.

You should be able to click on the one that "failed" and via add/remove on the control panel, remove the failed update according to Microsoft?

When i view Installation History, that's where it shows me that one file "failed" ...
I don't see it listed in Control Panel/add/remove....

by the way, inre the new "malicious software removal tool", showing that it was installed successfully, i went looking for it, to see if it is a program we need to 'click on' to make it work, or rather is it just in the background working on its own? ...... I can't find where it d/l'ed to either .... argh ... wwggd?

ack! I can't even find mine in Add/remove - my eyes are crossed.

otoh I think it's working silently in the background.

there's always that XP roll back feature.

I know there's a lot of $temp folders in the windows file.....

System restore.

Start/all programs/accessories/system tools/system restore.

I'm not sure if it will work with the MS updates but it's too late to think of anything else.

That's it - I'm through for the evening.

Save your other questions for tomorrow...
