This is the view outside the window of our little dining room, after a snow storm. California sunshine, live oaks, boulders with snow icing. Very soothing to sore nerves! This is the room where I take my pictures for Ebay (to keep this Ebay-related).

Ha ha, no, silly. There's a big table in there and light comes in on three sides so it's perfect (until I finally set up my light cube and get that going in my ebay room).

Roadsmith...How can you get any work done with a distracting view like that? We have an inversion layer over the valley, and if it's not low clouds, it's fog that has kept the sun hidden since last weekend. Hopefully a few rays will come through tomorrow. Bet you wish you could keep that snow until July.

Here's a view from my front porch last week as the last storm was leaving California. The area behind the rainbow, which is not visible, is the Sierra Nevada mountains which now has more snow now than it has had in over 7 years.

Right now my ebay view is ICE - I am ICED IN, yuck! I don't mind snow, I hate ice. I think I will be stuck in tomorrow too, I sure hope it is not like last year when I was stuck home for 5 days straight. That was awful. Ice sucks! It should NOT be raining out when it is 20 degrees.

Boy can I relate! It was in the 60s on Wednesday. Thursday morning I was scraping an inch of ice off the car. That's when I noticed the crack running across the front windshield. There came a point when driving down the street was like riding a roller coaster. The ice made small hills in the road. Like you, I don't mind the snow, but the ice I can live without! Even a 4-wheel drive SUV is hell to drive on ice.
Roadsmith, nice view. No offense, but please keep your California weather in California. By the time it gets here, it's freezing rain and snow! Or, if it has to come here, send the heat along with it. LOL!!!

Sparkz--It is truly distracting at times. The coyotes, deer, birds, squirrels all cavort on those boulders and look for food. When I finally set up my light box in a windowless room, I'll get more done, LOL.

The float plane lake starts where the trees end. We only have a couple of planes with skis take off in the winter but it's a very busy place in the summer. I'll have to take another photo in May when it gets pretty.

Niel: I haven't forgotten that you want a report on the light box. I've made a note to let you know. I want first to set up the light box in our shop/workroom, which is cold in the winter. I'm waiting for some warmer weather to give it a tryout. There's a high workbench in there that I think is the perfect height for the light box, with lamps shining into it on both sides. If that's satisfactory when tried, I'll then get a simple table made of that same height for my ebay room. I'll let you know.

HEY! Not so fast. I got the light box in late October. Not even three months yet.
I'm timid about anything new; I buy clothes and let them hang in the closet for a couple of months before wearing them. I've been known to wait 1 - 2 months to drive a new family car. We just got a Prius, and we had it a week before I decided to drive it to town. A real triumph. Etc.
All in good time, okay?!!! You'll be the first to know. Sheeeeeesh!

Road - I one for Christmas (the 14" - perfect for jewelry and fits in my carry on when I am traveling back and forth ) and use it often. It has yet to bite me or cause me any physical or mental harm. Get off your butt and play with your new toy woman!!!

I got one for Christmas also. I suggested my Mom buy one for my SIL and she got one for me too. She got 30". It's huge.
The first time I tried to fold it back down and put away, it scared the life out of me when it popped back up. I made it through with no injuries and lived to tell about it. Even got a laugh out of it.
And the best part is, I took a really good picture with it. That is a major good thing in my case.

Those of you who have a light box--please tell me how many lights you use with it? Each side plus the top? Only each side? Or??

Roady
I have the perfect room for this. 3 walls of all glass. It has 4 fluorescent lights with 2 bulbs each and 2 ceiling fans. Each fan has a 5 light fixture.
I took the pictures in the afternoon with the sun coming in and had on ALL the lights.

Wow, tootie, did you take that picture with your light box? It's very impressive.
Since no instructions came with the light box, I just don't recall if two or three lights are needed, including one from above. I guess I'll just experiment - WHEN it's warmer in our storeroom, of course.
