I was just sharing this with my SO and enjoying a few laughs...
http://pages.ebay.com/community/chatter/2005February/access.html
The last comment reminded me to tell him that I had been thinking about selling the first "antique" I had ever bought. A hump-back steamer trunk that I bought when I was 16.
After thinking about it for a few seconds, I said, "Naw, can't sell it yet. That should be the last thing I ever list."
After we both stopped laughing, I comment, "Guess you will have to bury me in that trunk".
His quick reply was, " How is next Thursday for you?"
Gotta love him, if it weren't for his sense of humor, he would have divorced me long ago!

Hmmm.... The only thing is if it's on Thursday he'll have to pay for a 10-day auction for a Sunday ending.

People laugh at us when we go to the grocery store because we have more cardboad in our cart than groceries. Its bad when you say "We need to go to the store and get more boxes".

I can relate many of them, but the one about not watching the movie & looking at all the items in the scene really hit home. I do it all the time.

I'm wondering if it's just me, or does anyone else here ever go to a nice restaurant with their spouse, and as soon as they finish the salad, flip the plate over to examine the mark on the underside? This of course is after you take out the loupe and examine the silverware for hallmarks.

I bought a tv software program so I can watch Sex in the City and work at the same time! OH and my postmaster spotted a huge bag of popcorn on the side of the road while driving to the mall .. she had her husband stop traffic so she could throw it in her car... saying "I know who can use this" It was my Christmas present from USPS!
Love it we are all nuts together! HI friends

I too get caught up in the collectibles displayed in rooms while watching TV and movies. And I too have turned over my restaurant plate to check the maker's mark. I've even done it when at people's homes for dinner! My friends all say they need to glue down everything on the table or Adele will sell it.

You are watching TV and an eBay commercial comes on. You tell everyone in the room that that's the company you work for.

Good Lord - It's Me!!!!!
Has anyone ever gone to a funeral and spent most of the time looking at the antiques wondering how much you could get for them?

omigosh sparkz, yes! I do that too ... checking for marks on the restaurant or civic centers serving wares .... I have no shame at all. LOL ... toughest one to check was getting a look at the bottom of a silver metal milk pitcher (it was full of cream at the time), at an old Orthodox Church bingo game .... my bad!!!
speaking of having a nice laugh, if you get a spare minute today, you maybe would enjoy the funny i posted down on the RoundTable yesterday. (cuz it's not ebay related) It's a good one.

True story. I should be embarassed to tell.
A friend called and told me a mutual friend's mother had died. Of course, I felt sorry for my friend - but simultaneously I thought - I wonder if she'll let me go through her mom's stuff first like she did when her aunt died.
BAD, BAD, BAD GIRL!!!

Cherished: I've had those disgusting, base thoughts, too. My dream is to get in there before anybody else. Shameful.
Recently a woman who does estate sales let me go with her to look at a houseful of stuff. It was in preparation for her 3rd estate sale in that house, selling everything for the heirs, belonging to a compulsive shopper. I found two big bags worth of books and some other things that hadn't sold yet, paid her the going price, and smiled all the way home.

Some of the comments are so true! However, when I read a few to my 22 yr old daughter, she didn't laugh, she just said "they were writing about you, weren't they Mom!"
Thanks for the morning laugh!

I am having such a great laugh with this thread!
I'm pretty bad myself. When I learned we would be moving, I immediately started to go through things that I no longer wanted to sell on Ebay. I've listed alot of my books on half.com and have made about $200. I can't wait to go through the rest of my stuff. I have a feeling we're going to have verrrrrrrrrry little to move.

Bizzy: May I ask if some or all of the books you sold on half.com were crochet-related? Just wondering, because I have a couple of crochet books here.

Roadsmith -- No, I don't list my crochet books on half.com. I list those on ebay. The books I've sold on half.com are my old MLM and sales books. I have also sold my books on nutrition and parenting and some older novels that I had read.
If you would like help listing those pattern books on ebay, write to me privately ([email protected]).
