I don't recognize this little mark between the 1 and the B. Anyone? It's in a buyer's address.

Lope de Rueda 49, 1º B

I don't know what it means but it's a degree mark. As in temperature, etc.

It means 1st (probably first floor)

Yes, sad, ain't it??

It obscurely means: 1 degree Bacon -- as in Kevin Bacon!

The entire European Community is obsessed with the idea that ALL of the known universe can somehow be described as one of SEVEN DEGREES of KEVIN BACON, somehow or another...

Sad commentary on the modern mental state of yer average European, huh?

Just because this came in handy today for an address in Singapore, here's a helpful link for the format for international addresses:

Hope you find it as useful as I did.

Neglus is correct. It's a short version of the word "primero", which means first.

It's a spanish language ordinal.

I just sent a package to spain. Got a happy customer.
Just be careful in your penmanship or print out and it will be hunky dory.

Be sure to write the address exactly how they gave it to you. Just because it doesn't make sense to you, it sure does to the people of Spain.

PayPal must have a contorted form for people o/s the US to fill out. In Europe, the postal code goes BEFORE the name of the city and there is no need to include the name of the state, kanton or whatever - quite often my buyers correct this is the note section.

An exemple:
Marie Antoinette
1 Place de la Guillotine
7385 Paris
France
