On this weeks show (02-27) we’ll be interviewing Robert Birnbach, co-author of: eBay Photos that Sell: Taking Great product Shots for eBay and Beyond.
Robert is a professional photographer who has developed national campaigns for Pottery Barn, Target, Kinko's, and MTV among many others.
His co-author, Dan Gookin, is the bestselling author in the “Dummies” series and all told, has published some 90+ books on computer and internet related subjects.
Robert is going to discuss the 10 essential things you must know when taking your product shots. And some of these suggestions may just surprise you; practical advice for non-professionals that will directly affect your on-line success.
Please let me know of any particular questions or areas of concern and I’ll see if I can incorporate them into the interview.
Best,
Michael

Have him outline a basic 3-point lighting set up.
Talk about color correction.
Compare the fine art of say, jewelry photography to (hate to say it) disposable photography that some sellers need.
Ask about protecting images, watermarks, other things like that.
Storage ideas, file labeling suggestions.
Size suggestions, multiple sizes, aka enlargable images.
That's all the brainstorming I can think of right now.
oh good cameras? What's the next wave of portable photo technology?
(I use a flashcard...cheap and holds much more than a floppy)

Have him go over the basics of FOCUSING. Ebay is the world's largest repository of blurry photos.

Thanks Japerton & profe51;
I'll try and work some of these in.
When you think about it, we could easily do a show on nothing else.
Good photos sell. Its that simple. Before any seller lowers price or gives up on an item, he/she should seriously consider the quality, number and composition of their photos ( not to mention the ad copy, but that's another subject).
The hardest thing about this isn't technical, its being objective re what the buyer sees.
Thanks again.
Best,
Michael

Japerton;
LOL...you're right!! We love the challenge, though.
We've always used Edgar Bergen & Charlie McCarthy as our "gold standard' for what was possible on radio.
ewora;
Thank-you for the kind words. We love doing the show and please call or e-mail us with questions. You're always welcome!
I'm toying with the idea of moving the show to weekdays..in the afternoon. Sundays have always been our slot but maybe during the week is a better idea. What do you think?
The great thing about web casting is that the shows are archived so that you can hear them anytime...but weekdays are tempting.
One last thing, we've been selected for a "cool" award that I'll announce here in the next day or two.
Thanks so much,
Michael

I actually like the Sunday format. It runs at 6pm Alaska time (7pm PST). On the weekdays I'm on the run all day. I wouldn't have the time to devote to listening live.
Sunday is less busy...a good time to listen. Your show is the hour before Extreme Home Makeover on TV.
I do like the fact that you archive the shows for later listening.
Thank-you. We're on LIVE every Sunday night, 7PM Pacific, 8PM Mountain, 9PM Central, 10PM Eastern.
Then the show is archived under "Recent Shows" on the home page for the week following and then is on our "Archive Page" for two weeks more.
ewora;
That's good to hear ( and to be heard ) in Alaska. I get antsy about Sunday because it seems we're always up against Mother's Day, the Super Bowl or the Oscars...and the Grammys last week. Anyhow, I'll let you know if we change.
Best,
Michael
