This happens at least once a week now. Someone keeps paying me. I get paid once, great. I get paid twice (for the same item) and I refund. Then, I get another payment. I think my record is something like 7 payments for the same item. I know how it happens, but don't people double check to see what they are actually paying? I guess the answer is no.

nope, i don't think they check or read. my record is only 3, not your 7 - ugh. i've e'mailed people and stated "i'm refunding your second (or third) payment for this item and have shipped it to you, thank you very much." one elderly man in virginia sent me two separate payments for the same item - cash in the mail. i wrote him several times, requesting a response, and never got one. maybe he died or something.

It happens to me weekly. I have one person who sends a PP payment every month (for the last 4 months). I refund stating he has received his postcard.

He mails me back saying yes, but Ebay shows it unpaid.

If they don't pay through the Pay Now button Ebay doesn't mark it paid in My Ebay...they see the message "You need to pay xxxx people" and they send another payment.

I just returned my 3rd payment from another user yesterday.

Even if they do use the "Pay Now" button it takes several hours or days for it to show paid on "My Ebay" so they often just pay again.

If you go into your 'My Ebay' page under 'sold' and mark the item as 'paid' it will then show on their 'My Ebay' page as paid. I have had to do that because people pay by check or money order and then are not happy until it is marked paid, so I just go in and mark it with every check.

I don't mark checks paid until they clear (10 business days). That way if I have to file NPB, eBay doesn't show paid. Fortunately, I haven't had a problem.....yet.

Actually that is good advice, I am probably very lucky not to have had problems. I will change to 10 days after check receipt, Thank you.

I've had a few bidders that continually make a habit out of sending multiple payments (usually cash, even though I don't accept cash), about a week apart, for items that have sold very cheap. (even after feedback exchanged)

I think they hope that I will have multiples of the same item, and will ship another for the same low price.

I've had to block a bidder or 2 to prevent having to waist a stamp to mail back their 2nd or 3rd payments.

People allways tell me to take it easy and I allways reply that if I can take it easy, i'll take it twice.

Those stupid idoits have been mislead into thinking that ebay is also paypal. I don't allow the pay now link in my auctions because of the triple payment problems. It is amazing how many people there are out there that cannot figure out how to pay directly from their paypal account. Even with instructions in my WBN I send that gives step by step instructions. So yes, there are a lot of stupid idiots (democrats) out there.
