I've taken the advice of sellers on this board and don't provide feedback until the transaction is completed. Unfortunately, this is not stated in my acution(s).
I've had no problems with this until today. I received an e-mail from a buyer requesting feedback. They have not left feedback and I'm not sure how to respond.

Good business practice or not, I usually ignore these emails.

Yeah, I get an FB-WHINER about once every 6 mos -- I refer them to my CUSTOMER SERVICE REP (Ralphie) who responds:
"Dear Pretzel-Choker:
I'm always delighted to reciprocate with feedback.
And, again, THANK YOU for your purchase!
Sincerely,
Mr. Boston Red Sox Ralph"

I have a short line in my "your item has shipped" email explaining how my automated system reciprocates feedback.
I don't put that info in the auction, but they definitely find out about it.

I used to leave feedback as soon as payment was received, but after getting negged because the buyer did not read my TOS completely I will leave feedback when I receive it from the buyer.

Replay has a good answer for you in the future. Now, since you have received the email requesting feedback you could simply respond with your feedback policy. Apparently, this buyer feels that she has paid and deserves feedback. She may not anticipate the problems that might occur before your end of the transaction is completed.
I leave feedback when payment is received. I don't see any need to reserve feedback to use as a retaliatory tool.

"you will".....not necessarily. I havent. Sure I have gotten some undeserved negs, but that's show biz. Here are my stats:
Feedback Score: 8227
Positive Feedback: 99.9%
Members who left a positive: 8234
Members who left a negative: 9
All positive feedback received: 12423
14168 feedback left by neglus (0 mutually withdrawn)
I always leave Feedback first. I leave Feedback when I ship the package. I don't have time to answer "where is my feedback" emails...it's just easier for ME this way and it hasn't backfired yet.

I wouldn't put my feedback policy in my auctions either, but my end of auction notice tells them that due to the overwhelming number of transactions, feedback has been automated and it will be returned automatically once left for me. I occasionally get the "I Paid please leave feedback" messages which just get ignored. Very occasionally I will get a thesis from some customer with too much time on their hand telling me how the earth is going to end because I am not doing what I am supposed to be doing. If someone has that much time to give a lengthy complaint, I will just block them and move on. I actually did get a negative for not leaving feedback first, but overall it is actually easier this way, and if I get the moronic negative, I can send one back and try to get it withdrawn. I'm 5 for 7 on withdrawing negatives, so it does work.

Believe me, the transaction AIN'T COMPLETE until you know that the item is in their grubby little paws, and they have that s-eating grin of deep satisfaction -- easily enough reflected by their glowing fb for that wunder-kind of da feeBay work: Ralph J. Dog!

LOL Tom, you're too much
personally-I dont know why a buyer is concerned about feedback in the first place-its doesnt really matter if he has a 1,000 pos or 100 pos-sellers are still going to sell to him/her.
Its only the seller that has to worry about feedback.

Rebublicans and other assorted low-lifes ????? ??
Tom,Tom,Tom
Surly Ralphie can explain to you that ones' political views and their value as customers are separate issues.
I leave feedback after I receive feedback. Ooooo I do if the customer is feedback needy and emails and requests several times, ya know please leave feedback , I will for you Please Please.
My feedback is contingent to theirs. It is not a positive transaction to me, if they leave neutral.
Again,Tom,I appreciate the Liberals money as much as I do the Conservatives. Money is GREEN not Red OR Blue.

I give the exact same response that Bizzy does. Someone posted it in a thread here two or three years ago, and it has worked great for me.

One of the nicest things about getting that big fat RED STAR is ya don't really care so much about fb any longer -- da rest is just...GRAVEY

Dunno about that. My red star has looked good with lots of little green feedbacks for a long time. I hate to add distractions by putting in little red feedbacks.

Ditto, Neglus. I leave it when I get the payment. 1450 positives, no negs, 2 neutrals, in my main seller account. The risk is worth it for me to take care of the FB when I think it's appropriate.
I also think FB is important to most buyers, and the newer they are, the more important it is to them. They want to build up a good reputation on Ebay.
HOWEVER, as with many aspects of Ebay, I believe it depends heavily on what you're selling and how much care you give each customer. Book sellers are wonderful; ditto for most collectibles. If I sold guy stuff or young man stuff, you can bet I'd hold off on FB until it's received.

I am curious, some of you sellers wont leave feedback first, and wont leave feedback unless the customer does so first.
whey you are the customer, do you expect the seller selling to you to leave the feedback first.???
