All "used" items, including very expensive antiques, are all something someone doesn't want anymore....that doesn't make them junk.

Yeah, but in the U.K., they talk funny and drive on the wrong side of the road. Do you really expect someone like that to recognize an antique if they saw one?

Ya, I guess you're right, Sparkz, after all, England is such a young country compared to the U.S. What would the Brits know about "old stuff"

Having in the past imported containers of UK and European furniture – you are right, they discard some odd items. HOWEVER, what they see as “USED,” in the U.S. is thought of as antique. We purchase an 1800’s, 12 foot, hand carved hutch from France, for about $3,000, and in a large city, and it could easily go for about $20,000!
This particular piece is so magnificent; I have decided to keep it, which is rare for me, as I seldom get attached to a piece to the point of keeping it.
We use to import antique hand crank sewing machines from the UK, and Europe, and they sold for a trivial amount "across the pond", but would sell sky high in the U.S.
We no longer import furniture or sewing machines as we found our niche in selling items smaller, easier to pack, and redundant, which works much better for us.
