I just got this email supposedly from eBay with the subject line, "TKO NOTICE: A 24 Your eBay Bid was Cancelled !!!" I never heard of a TKO notice nor did TKO come up on eBay when I searched the help page. The text of the message read:

Dear eBay Community Member,

The bid that you entered for the item ( ********** ) has been cancelled.
To view the reason provided for the cancellation Click Here

Regards,
eBay

Is this a new scam or has it been around a while and should I feel neglected not to have gotten one of these already? I have to admit it is pretty innovative.

When I clicked "Click Here" to find out why my bid had been cancelled I was directed to a sign in page and no I didn't sign in. Also I have only been sniping as of late so I knew I didn't have any bids out there.

It's a spoof - Ignore and move on

If it's really "common" sense, why do so few people actually have it?

I just got it also. It's a scam. I forwarded it to [email protected]. The auction number they gave me was 5581247468 . Sorry, but I don't collect stamps and have not bid on an item in several years. Don't click the item number or the other link. They go to a non Ebay URL. Most likely you'll get a trojan horse on your hard drive.

After awhile you get callosed to these and just hit del. I get at least 25 a week to my old email addressthat is not registered with either eBay or PayPal, so I know they are spoofs.

I wonder why the spoofers insist on using the verbage "TKO" - TECHNICAL KNOCK OUT??? I have never seen a REAL message from ebay with "TKO" in it!!

Thanks for the input. However, I was already aware it was a scam. What I wanted to know was if it was a new scam as it was trying to collect information from a different angle. sparkz, my auction number was the same as yours.

Getalife...It's fairly new. Here's one I received today. It's disguised as a question from a member and it looks authentic. This is one that will snare a lot of Ebay newbies:

The giveaway on the above is that they spelled the word "check" as "cheque" and referred to shipping as posting. You guessed it, the email originated in the UK. Also, I had 7 TKO notices today about my account being suspended. They all originated at the same ISP in Romania. It's so nice to feel wanted
