I have Microsoft Picture It (7.0) as my photo imaging software. Does anyone one know how to knock out a background and replace it with with a solid background? I sell clothing and would like to replace background colors to enhance the clothing. For instance, if I'm showing a white clothing item, I would like to have the background color black. Thanks in advance for any help.

I don't have an answer but I'll be interested to see what someone else has to offer. Do you like PictureIt?

Hi Roadsmith..I do like Microsoft Picture for editing my pictures. It gives me many options that my old image editing software just didn't have. I know there is a way to knock-out the background, but I can't quite figure it out.

I use MS Photodraw (and Ulead PhotoImpact) and you have to cut out the background. With Photodraw you can do it by color. I'm not sure about Picture It. You may want to try that.

I have MS PictureIt, but nearly always use Photoshop Essentials instead. What you want to do it easy to do poorly, but very time consuming to do well. The problem is the transition area between foreground and background. There are automated tools to select the background, and you can feather how it handles the transition area, but I've found that it just isn't good enough most of the time. If you have very straight lines, it isn't tough, but clothing wouldn't have that.

All in all, I think it would be easier to simply have a few colors of seamless background paper, and photograph the clothing against the appropriate color. It would probably take less time than doing it well via digital manipulation (but admittedly more time that doing it poorly via digital manipulation).

Just my $0.02.

Im not all that computer savy but this is what I do.
go to "my pictures" and click on any picture.
go to the left column and click on "photo and color effects" on the right column click on"color or texture" another right column will appear click on "fill with color or texture"
when you click on that in the upper left column you will the colors you can use in little boxes.Click on any color and the photo you choose to begin with will fill with that color-theres your background. All you have to do is take the picture of the article you want to auction and just put it in box where your color background is.
