I shipped a large item that arrived damaged. I had used paypal to pay and printed the label.
My customer took the package to the post office and they told her that they need my original receipt for insurance??? Can't they pull it up with the tracking number? Seems they are doubting their own website information.
I can print my paypal payment page but I don't understand why I would need to do that?
This is the first claim I have had since I have been printing these on my computer - does anyone know what they mean??

That's a very good question!

not the paypal payment page, they want the copy from their USPS website when you purchase the insurance from them

Your receipt from the USPS is the other half of the printed label. Make a copy of it and then send to original to your buyer. The PO will need and will only accept the original, but is still a good idea to make a copy first.

Stop - can't they pull that up - it's their website after all??
Stone - my labels don't have a second part - do yours? I use the peel & stick and the whole thing goes on the package. She has that, of course.

Why does the USPS have to make this so hard?
I'll send her a copy of the page showing all the information and I guess I print another one and mail it to her but it just seem a little crazy to me.

ladyjewels---You're supposed to cut the half with the info off and keep for your records, not put the whole thing on the package.

Are you sure? I don't know what half I could cut off. The bottom has the addressee and top has my address, weight etc. Are we talking about the same labels. I use my paypal to print and pay. It's half a 8 x 11 sheet. I have been printing these for months. If I should keep something - it seems like one of the postal clerks would say something??
When I use to do DC on USPS website - I had 2 parts then but not now.

I just pay for and printed another shipping label using paypal. There is no other half to this label. Everything is attached to the package.
Paypal sends me a notice and I think that has all the details so I will print it out and ask my postal clerk if that's what they need.
I guess you get something different if you go directly to the USPS site??

If you are printing off Paypal and are using a 8 1/2 x 11 label, there are two parts.
One half goes on the package with there address and yours along with a conformation # postage.
The other half has a small duplicate of the big label with both address and the deliver confirmation No. Just like the large one. this is 1/4 of the 1/2 page, the other 1/4 has instructions as to what to do with the label.
When I mail a PP package I put half on the package and the other on the back of there PP print out that I make in case there is a problem, then I have all the info.

There is also a little dotted line and a picture of a pair of scissors and I guess it says "cut here" or "cut along dotted line" or something like that. That is your printed receipt that you created the label. And yes, I use PayPal. Surely you're not attaching an entire 8 1/2" x 11" piece of paper to your package, are you??

Ohhhh--I just read where you say you are using half a sheet. So, are you actually putting half a sheet of paper in your printer or a whole sheet. If you are putting half a sheet maybe you're just not getting the other half printed because there is nothing to print it on!!!

I guess I have mine set up different because there is nothing to cut away. My peel off labels are 2 to a 8 1/2 x 11 sheet and I always print 2 to a page. I promise you guys - I'm not crazy!!!
Anyway I checked with my postal guy and he said to use the print out from the detail paypal page and if they won't take that - come back and he'll take care of it for me. Super guy and the most informed employee with the post office. IMO
I'm going to check my settings but in all likely-hood I won't change it - I hate all that paper. If it's a big deal - I'll just use DSI for all my insurance needs.

When I used Endicia I was able to do like you are doing--print 2 to a page but going through PayPal I can't and haven't been able to find where you can change it. I hate wasting a whole sheet just for one label.

When you print your label are you using the Paypal page and clicking the box on the line with the buyers name, on the right side is a box that says ship, if you click that I think you will see what we are talking about it opens and asks what type of mail service you want is it priority do you want Ins. and the weight. Check what you want and if fills in the amount of postage, then you just push print.
I don't know where you can change the format on Paypay, if you do let me know I can save a 1/2 page of lable each time lol

Found it - I think.
Paypal - Profile - Shipping preferences - USPS Label - Print copy of receipt.
My "print copy" was not marked on my page so I assume that's why I don't get it.
See if that will do it for you
I also looked up "how to file a claim for on line insurance" and it said you can use the page from the payment source so I think I'm good to go.
Save a tree today and change your settings.

Aha--found it and yes, mine was checked "print label". As far as saving a tree--well, you know they farm trees just like they do cattle, or soybeans, or wheat. Oops, don't want to start a political discussion here. Anyway--looks like what started out as a request for help ended up helping others.

I meant to say my preferences said "print receipt". I printed a label last night and sure enough, it only printed the label and not the receipt.
