I am stumped again folks. I have searched for a week. Yes, a week. I can't find anything on the artist of this piece.

There is a very famous Mexican artist by the name of Rivera. I don't know if he ever did any ceramic work though. And I can't recall his first name, but someone will jump in soon and provide the missing link. In the meantime, I would search on "Rivera" only and leave out the initial for the first name.

Sparkz, you're a sweetheart. I thought that too. That famous one is Diego Rivera. This one is known but not as well known. This piece looks Mexican but maybe it's a Southwestern USA artist. That's all I have been able to find.

looks like it's one of a million slip molded pieces that are sold in the tourist traps in Mexico...they're often signed by the person who did the painting.

OR that 'C' almost looks like a 'G' with that dash next to it ...

probably Geraldo Rivera.

.DITTO.....if a true "artist" ever produced a piece that looked like this he'd cut off something...and not his ear.

It's a MOLDED piece, for crying out loud. All is not gold that glitters ... or conversely, all signatures are not gold. Unless it's on modernistic silver of course.

Is it pottery or some type of ceramic and is the sig. under the glaze if it is glazed? Mexican ceramic makers and a goodly number of Mexican folk "artists" frequently sign their stuff and NO! it is not Diego Rivera who was a painter of renown.

It could be Diego's third cousin twice removed, Carlos.

Probably not. Rivera is a common Spanish name. Must be millions of Riveras in Mexico. Must be over a hundred in my local phone book and that only covers about a 10 mile radius.
