I have a necklace and bracelet from a great-aunt's estate. This jewelry is very heavy but totally unmarked. Looks like silver but no silver mark, and I've searched. The smoky rhinestones and white stones are all carefully prong-set and there is no damage.

Are the white stones possibly cat's-eye agate?

How would you describe this jewelry? I'm at a loss!

How many links in the bracelet?

Those are excellent pictures, Roadsmith. To hell with the necklace, how much do you want for the camera?

Sparkz: The necklace, zip. The bracelet, zip. The camera--priceless.

Libra--there are seven links in the bracelet, plus a safety chain. Here's a picture of the bracelet back, as you asked.

Y'know, when I first saw our great-aunt's jewelry collection and spotted these pieces, I dismissed them as gaudy, but the more I look at them, the more I like them. They're so substantial and weighty, and I think they'd be great to wear in the summer.

If they are from around the 60's check ebay and look to see if there is any Juliana pieces on there. Juliana was done in links and that is the only designer that I knew did that. Juliana was never marked on the jewelry as they only had stickers or hang tags.

Libra, you are wonderful! I've looked at the Juliana line in "Jewelry." Yes, those 5-link bracelets and the back of the links are identical to what I have here. I've never heard of Juliana as a jewelry maker but I am VERY impressed with their designs.

One more question: Is there any chance that this could be called fruit salad, too?

Thanks a zillion for your help, m'dear. I hope I can return the favor someday.

My daughter who designs and creates jewelery offers her opinion. the dark stones are either smokey quartz or smokey topaz - same stone but people call it differently.

The others are not catseye, as catseye is 2 different shades of brown and is opaque. She doesn't know the name of this stone, but suggests you take it into a jeweler to find out.

Sorry I am so late but I just couldn't stay up any longer.

Well when checking through what sellers call fruit salad you certainly could use that in your description. I only checked current auctions though.

I personally thought fruit salad was multi colors but there are a lot of auctions that are just the colors you have in your set and they use it.

The milky white stones look like moonstones to me.

it may be frosted glass, look at how it is cut, some part is clear and some frosty, moonstone if you cut into it,should be the same .
is this costume jewelry,if so,then both stones are glass.

I'm quite sure this is costume jewelry rather than fine, so probably all the stones are glass. So pretty, though! I've decided to take a side view to show the height of each bracelet or necklace link. Appreciate the help of all you fine folk!

try Lisner or Kramer grandma had some of this stuff earlier this year and it was marked on a link somewhere I found with a flashlight. They went around $20 for a set earrings and chocker or something like that.

I can't believe what I have learned on this board. I have had pieces like this before and did not know that they could have been Juliana. Thanks Libra
Great photos Roadsmith

Ladyjewels: Yup, ain't it wonderful how much help people give each other here?! Literally I don't know what I'd have done over the years without Vendio. The Ebay message boards are practically hopeless, in my experience.

And. . . whoever heard of Juliana jewelry?! And it's just gorgeous. Shaking my head, I wonder how MUCH MORE out there I still have to learn (probably an ocean full).

Hello) I am a collector of Juliana jewelry. The bracelet is actually 5 links not 7 you don't have to count the clasp parts. The ice navette stones are call givre glass due to the two tones of glass used. It is defiantly a Delizza & Elster demi parure makers of Juliana and most Defiantly a Juliana in my opinion. the chaton (round cut) rhinestones are smoke or as I like to call then stormy smoke rhinestones. This is strictly costume jewelry and very collectable.
Let me know if they are for sale. Hope this helps and best wishes, Laura

Lordav: Wow! You know so much about this jewelry! I appreciate your help very much. I'm launching it tomorrow night, so this is very timely information and I'll add it to the description.

I was aware, finally, that the bracelet is just five links but thanks for pointing that out.

And thanks for the links to the other sites. ~Adele

One more thing, Lordav: Could you check over this description I've written for the auction and tell me if I've gotten any of your information screwy? (Further description gives length, number of stones, condition, etc.)

"Great for summer wear! These two Juliana pieces are perfectly stunning and have come from the estate of a relative born in 1910 who collected fine and costume jewelry all her life. The pieces have round, prong-set smoky rhinestones and two-tone ice navette stones, called givre glass due to the two tones of glass used. All stones present, no damage whatsoever. These pieces are heavy and substantial; no maker's mark, but the five-link bracelet is a distinctive Juliana touch. The set has been identified as such by a collector, who says these pieces are by Delizza & Elster, demi-parure makers of Juliana. The metal appears to be silver but isn't marked as such. Low reserve."

Road - just in case lordav doesn't come back before you list - if it were mine - I would not say that about silver and unmarked. It is not silver but you could say silver-tone if you like. JMO

Roadsmith

The set has been identified as such by a collector, who says these pieces are by Delizza & Elster, demi-parure makers of Juliana

Be very careful when stating this making sure that someone has physically seen and felt the set. I had someone ID something for me once who never saw the piece in person. I stated about the same as you (different designer, etc.) and it came back to bite me in the azz. If by chance it is not what is stated above, you have an "item not as described" situation on your hands. Collectors will know what it is. Instead of saying these pieces are, I would say these pieces may be. JMO.

Oh, and ladyjewels has it right about the silver and silver-tone thing. There are new rules and regs for the jewelry category and properly identifying the metal content is one of them.

I would not put the name of the maker in the description if it was me. The word Juliana will bring you lots of hits. Lady it is silver color not silver.

Remember this jewelry set? Some of you were a tremendous help. It sold for $124+ tonight. As my favorite auctioneer would say, it's lookin' better and better. I thought it was rather homely when I first looked at it. . . but now!

Thanks, Libra. I was astonished. And I had a great night last night (for me). Sold 8 items out of 15, for $420. All had been free to me, or at the most a couple of bucks at a yard sale. I've been busy lately and haven't been able to list and sell some of my better items, so this was a lot of fun. Thanks to everyone who gave their usual great advice!
