We feel that eBay stomps on their users because they don’t need them to be successful. We want to change that and give eBay users a VOICE THAT WILL BE HEARD.

There are many users that feel they have suffered financial loss unjustly at the hands of eBay and their policies. This can be anything from account suspension, customer service horror stories (we know there are many of these), or the main complaint about selling fees and the recent increase.

We have already talked to lawyers at one of the biggest law firms in the U.S. and they feel we can make a difference if we come together. We are going to present them a number of members that are interested in this so we can move forward.

We are posting this message in the eBay Forums and any other eBay blog we can find. If you have any ideas on where we can get maximum exposure please let us know. Please pass this on any way you can so we can get the word out.

Please email [email protected] and tell us the following information
(DO NOT GIVE ANY PERSONAL ACCOUNT INFORMATION!!!):

(1) How long you have been a member
(2) Estimated Financial Loss
(3) Brief Explanation of Grievance(s)

You can go to http://ebayunion.blogspot.com/ to see the latest news on our endeavourer and post your won thoughts.

Thank you and PLEASE PASS THIS ON.

We've heard this before...so many times...at nauseum. The OP hasn't even been a member of Vendio for 30 days (based on ID).

What if eBay decides to just fold up and goes away? Then what? And personally, I don't think it will take a competitor to take them out. There are too many sellers and not enough buyers! How are you going to control that? That's just basic economics. Take the sales you can and be happy! If you lived in the world of economics, you'd know that eBay is just a mirror of what's going on right now and should have seen this back in 1998.

Huge debt, a lot of speculators in the housing market, concern over the lack of jobs, 2-income families that are looking at being 1-income or no-income..........

I'd be interested to see if this "of the biggest law firms" even accepts the case
considering this isn't a wrongful death or personal injury lawsuit. And I'm sure if they were such a great firm, they'd know that they weren't the first firm to be contacted since 1995/1996.

A couple of ideas about eBay.

1. Yes they are evil, rude, incompetent, inconsistent, badly managed, and destined for eventual failure.

2. For now they are the big dog, not likely to change in the near future.

3. It is unlikely that their attitude towards ebay sellers will change, the company's central directive is "arrogance at all costs."

4. Eventually another company will eclipse them. GM, Ford and Chrysler had been in business for a very long time (50 years or more) before being handed their lunch by Honda and Toyota. Nothing to stop this from happening to eBay as well. The key factor is that their arrogance will destory them.

5. In the mean time in my opinion the best thing you can do is give yourself other options. For many folks an indepedent webstore is a great option/addition to their ebay business.

6. The less dependent you are on eBay the chances are the happier you will be.

7. You can start your own web store for very little money, do your own promotion, make it exactly how YOU want it and keep all the profits!

8. One option is a webstore on shoporium. Costs under $20 a month, no per item fees, no final value fees, no limit on number of items. Easy and flexible. There are also many other options for your own webstore. In my opinion you want a store where YOU keep all your money and you have control.

9. good luck!

The way you become a powerseller is a joke. All you have to do is sell on items per month as long as it sells for $1000.00, you are eligible to become a powerseller. Ok, good feedback too and a few other minor things, but the main in sell one item for $1000.00. You could list 500 items and only sell that one item for $1000.00 and the rest a non-sales to be a powerseller.

toybuyer -- yes I signed up for vendio a short while ago but I'm not sure if that has anything to so with the point I am making. you can choose to trust me or not, it doesn't effect me at all. I have been selling on eBay for a long time, and have mad good money off of it. I am a powerseller and have been so for a while. Still I have so many issues with eBay that its not worth me writing out. The thing is I am not trying to start a separate site and recruit new members. I am not asking that you stop selling on eBay. All I'm asking is that people support this initiative. There is no money involved. I'm not sure why people are hesitant about it...

If you have been selling for a "long time" than you know the words power seller don't mean much for those of us who've been around since it was AuctionWeb! Its not a matter of trust because I don't care. You don't say if you ever sold antiques and collectibles or retail merchandise. If you've been around for so long, you'd know that this "let's let eBay know what we think) has been done time and time again and not just by petition. You are NOT, however, going to ever get enough support! I know that for fact. In this game, its every man for himself. Sad but true!

toybuyer -- It is people like you that let their cynicism override their common sense. This is not a “lets let eBay know what I think idea”. This is a lets not get pushed around when we don’t have to idea. We are trying to accomplish something, as opposed to people like you that just loaf around looking for people on blogs to badger.
Despite what you say I believe there are people that will participate, sellers who have not been on eBay since it was AuctionWeb, and who have not given into the sellers society that eBay tries to dictate on their users.
By the way I sell electronics.

Yeah, I am sure they are interested in your well being. This is called a class action lawsuit. Basically, they will make millions if there is something fishy, and you will get a free listing day.

"There are many users that feel they have suffered financial loss unjustly at the hands of eBay and their policies. This can be anything from account suspension, customer service horror stories (we know there are many of these), or the main complaint about selling fees and the recent increase."

Account suspension - I think this sort of like going to a prison and asking how many people are innocent - They will all tell you that, but you know it just isn't true. Just about everyone who has come here with a suspended account talks about how unjust ebay is, but they did break the rules, and because they didn't like them or agree with them, they conveniently ignored them.

Customer service - You're going to sue ebay because of poor customer service. Actually, poor customer service is a plague these days, with every major player, but not worthy of a lawsuit

selling fees - last time I looked, ebay isn't forcing you to sell on ebay. I'm not happy about higher fees either, but that is a fact of life, especially in the online world - Things change rapidly.

Creating a union is a VERY uphill battle. I can't possibly see the need for it as someone who owns a business that happens to use ebay as a venue to sell my items. I plan on moving a lot of my sales away from them later this summer. I think if you want change, convince people to do something else. Ebay for now has to be part of my business plan, for an auction environment that is where all the customers are.
