My husband and I are coming verrrry late to SP-2. (We both have Windows XP.) He's installed it on his computer and is in the process of beginning the installation on mine. As I recall, some of you had problems with SP-2. Are you still having problems? And, if so, what are they? Thanks.

Most of the problems are with the Service Pack breaking something already on your computer, like a driver for example. If you install SP2 and everything appears to work afterwards, you're fine.

On the other hand, if you have a problem, you should find out pretty quickly.

I think MS fixed some of the issues with the service pack. Early "upgraders" had many more problems than you're likely to have.

SP2 is mostly an update for security and not performance so as long as you're to at least SP1 there's no need for SP2. If you stay with SP1 you need to activate the built-in firewall or install the free version of ZoneAlarm. For antivirus there's AVG, which is free for personal use.

I didn't install SP2 because it disabled my Nero 5.5 burner software. The cost to upgrade to Nero 6 would probably have been $20-30, but then again there wasn't that much benefit going from SP1 to SP2.

It's safe to try SP2 though. If you find something doesn't work you can always roll it back to SP1.
